iPad 3 shipping already

Congratulations. I'm jealous. I was a day late ordering, so my new iPad has just been released to UPS, and supposedly won't land on my doorstep until Tuesday. I can live till Tuesday.....I can live till Tuesday.....I can live till Tuesday.....😉

My iPad was supposed to come today but UPS in Canada choked big time. It's so painful watching everyone rave about their iPads! I won't see mine til I come back home next Friday. As if the March 7-16 wait wasn't brutal enough.

I'm sorry. Just think.....you'll have something exciting to look forward to when you get back home.

I felt the same way this morning, when people were getting theirs and then mine didn't come till this evening 😉 I wanted to be the first one to get my hands on one (outside of Apple and the folks at the press event), but of course that was too ambitious 😉

hahah thanks - I offered to pick my iPad up at the UPS warehouse but the lady on the phone sounded terrified when I offered to save them gas. Back to anxiously waiting for my iPad! It's kind of sad that the late delivery ruined my day -- first world problems! LOL

Thanks.......Actually it is arriving a day early. Or a day late, depedning on one's perspective. When I placed the order a week ago, the delivery date was supposed to be Monday, the 19th. For a week, the status stayed in "Processing" with only one change. The delivery date was pushed to the 21st. Today, the order finally went from Processing to Preparing to Ship and then Shipped all in the same day, only now the delivery date is the 20th. So, maybe, just maybe, if I'm really lucky, it will arrive Monday, but not later than Tuesday.

That's because they have an obligation to the shipper (Apple), who hired and paid them. They don't really care about the recipient that much. As long as they deliver the package to the proper address, they're OK with it.

Not sure if I am lucky or what. I went after work to Best Buy and just picked one up. No line, no wait no anything. I got the 16 GB Wifi. Awesome!

I'm not so sure. Apple does things MUCH differently than most makers, who would have gotten such devices well into reviewers hands a month ago (or at least on the announcement date).

It's not as if Apple needs to drum up sales for this (which is really the ONLY reason any maker puts software or hardware in reviewer's hands). I'd bet you a dollar you won't see ANY reviews of this before Friday, and not due to any NDA.

Ah, I *hate* to say "I told you so" (all right, so I don't hate it so much) but it's now clear from the reviews in that no one outside of Apple DID have this unit until Friday shipping or so. CNET's review, for example, clearly states this (saying "we'll update this review when we've had a few more days to test battery life and charging, etc.). Indeed, all the Friday reviews I saw (at least a dozen, from all the major players) all added the caveat of not knowing how the battery will perform just yet.

I really didn't think anyone would -- Apple didn't need the advance publicity (obviously) and they are just notorious on keeping them in-house until EVERYONE else has a chance to buy one. But that's okay with me (now that I have one myself to play with :>).

But I'm generous -- donate the dollar to your favorite charity (assuming your favorite charity isn't "Friday night at Hooters").

I believe that Apple did release review units to selected people on announcement day. Not everyone present got one but some did: the ones who did have admitted it since. I think Sarah Lane on iPad Today said MG Siegler had one. Or at least she said she lives with someone who had one, and last I heard she was dating Siegler. No doubt others will have had them too.

Several select people did get the new iPad on the day of the keynote but were under embargo not to say or report on it until 3/15/12.

Clayton Morris from Fox and Friends was one of them. He spent a week with the new iPad prior to its release.
