after ios 5.1 update apps won't download

I had trouble downloading the ios 5.1 update, but found a thread on here that pointed me to an open dns address, so i typed that in the dns field and it worked. I have the updated ios 5.1. I went back and deleted the dns address, connected to my local wi-fi and the internet and all functions seem to work fine, but when i try to download an app, whether it's one i used to have or a new one, it won't download. It begins to, then the icon flashes waiting/loading, waiting/loading, then a screen pops up that says "unable to download application. "imovie" could not be downloaded at this time. done, retry"

It's not just imovie, I've tried others as well.

i turned off and turned on. I can't sync now because i'm away from my laptop. i have verizon iphone 4s.

I just sent a message to apple product feedback. It seems like a lot of people are having issues so I would encourage everyone to contact apple to fix this! Having all us on this board trying to come up with workarounds really isn't going to solve anything bc no one has come up with a fix that works for everyone.

Thanks for trying vmarg, but this didn't work for me either.

I sent an email to the folks at Apple Insider with a link to this thread. I'm planning on sending it to a bunch of other Apple news blogs. Feel free to do the same. If Apple isn't paying attention to their own support forums, maybe they'll pay attention if we can get this on the apple news sites.

If you have done all your iOS upgrades via OTA on the iDevice and not via iTunes, I would recommend you to restore your iDevice with iTunes, where you download the full iOS package. Restore it with your backup. Don't try the reset at the iPhone settings screen. That didnt help.

My device is downloading since an hour or so from iCloud several songs and in between I started some app downloads. Everything back to normal.

Good luck to everyone.

I'm having the same issue and the only workaround I've come up with is to delete the waiting app off my phone, update it via itunes and then sync my phone via itunes. This is not an acceptable workaround. I lost all my app data on about 8 apps last night because of this. Now I have 6 more updates and I'm scared to try them! Please fix this apple!

Tried this as well. Downloaded a free app just as a test. Let it sit today for 9 hours, didn't work. I've backed up to my PC and I'm about to try a full restore & see if that helps. I did the 5.1 update on our 4th generation iPod touch & our iPhone 3g at the same time & those aren't having any issues, but my iPhone 4s is. It just totally pi$$es me off that I have a few hundred in apps and songs and after their 5.1 update all of a sudden my phone stops working properly. Apple could at least acknowledge that the 5.1 update has some sort of bug & is causing issues on the 4S.
