after ios 5.1 update apps won't download

I had trouble downloading the ios 5.1 update, but found a thread on here that pointed me to an open dns address, so i typed that in the dns field and it worked. I have the updated ios 5.1. I went back and deleted the dns address, connected to my local wi-fi and the internet and all functions seem to work fine, but when i try to download an app, whether it's one i used to have or a new one, it won't download. It begins to, then the icon flashes waiting/loading, waiting/loading, then a screen pops up that says "unable to download application. "imovie" could not be downloaded at this time. done, retry"

It's not just imovie, I've tried others as well.

i turned off and turned on. I can't sync now because i'm away from my laptop. i have verizon iphone 4s.

I've been having the EXACT same problems apple acting like I'm

Crazy when I call to address the issue and it's driving me nuts!!! My apps are stuck in the limbo of "waiting".... Tried reset and everything else! Open to any suggestions! I have the AT&T 4S...oh and nice try with tha fo gee (4G) bs AT&T haha it actually seems slower!

Same problem here. I updated my wife and I's iPhones at the same time. We both have a 4s. She can download or update apps no problem, but mine says "unknown error". If I hit retry, it reprompts me for my password, and will eventually lock my account. I know the password is correct, because I an use it everywhere else. A solution for this issue would be GREAT!

I see I'm not alone. I did the new IOS 5.1 update on my iphone 4 and it's fine. Then I did the update for my ipad2 and all of my apps just sit there "waiting". I synced to my computer and they updated them but when I try to get a new one from the store or do any updates from the app store via wifi, they just sit there "waiting". Plus I'm noticing that my icloud doesn't push an app from my iphone to my ipad, which I was hoping would take care of this until a fix was discovered. So now I'm off to google why my icloud isn't working as well. I also have no pending downloads or podcasts... Heavy sigh.

I have the same problem. My iPad 2 is stuck at waiting for at least a few days already. I have tried resetting and some people suggested podcast is stuck but I have no podcast and I don't sync with iTunes either.

I almost did a factory reset until I came across this article:

You do need a PC or MAC to install iExplorer. Then you can browser to the download directory, delete all the files there. I have so many files ther that it took me awhile to delete them all. Then reset my iPad 2. After that the update works! no more waiting status. It's free by the way but you can browser up to 5 folders only, after that you have to restart the app. Just don't browse other folder, go straight to download folder and delete them all.

This app is a keeper. I don't mind paying for it either. Virus check didn't find anything either.

Good luck!

That goodness there are many with the same problem. As a FYI backup your app data before you upgrade. I lost a bunch of data when an app went into the waiting mode. The only way to stop the waitig was to delete the app and all of its data. I had 19 apps that needed updating. I ended updating from Itunes.

Word to Apple we need a fix fast. I have 50 apps that update on averege ones every copy of weeks.

I heeded the advice of Vinibarot it worked! You will probably need to check you have no podcasts waiting in all your mac/pc itunes podcasts. Perhaps other waiting downloads in other catergories (TV, itunes U, etc) may also be causing the problems. I don't know for sure as I only had podcasts waiting. Simply deleting them allowed my apps to download/install directly to IOS device ( both my ipad2 and iphone 3GS running 5.1 were affected).

I have no waiting downloads anywhere. I have tried everything recommendation posted and nothing seems to work. The only thing I have not tried it to reset back to factory settings. That would be the last thing to try but before I perform anything like that I would want to here from Apple on what going on. clearly its a bug in their software as it worked fine before I upgraded to 5.2.

Same problem here. All the apps I try to download just say "Waiting..." and never actually download. Most of the time I have to delete them. Also, a lot of the time, after a while, a message will show up saying "You've already purchased this app. If it is not downloading, please sync with your computer." or something along those lines. This is so frustrating! So far I've tried: signing out of App store, hard reset, signing out then hard reset then signing in. Still not working 😟 Apple needs to fix this.
