Deleted iPhone USB from Network preference pane. How to get it back?

Dear Apple Support Communities,

When I tried to connect to the Internet via my iPhone on my MacBook, it didn't want to connect.

I turned off the Personal Hotspot and rebooted the iPhone. This didn't solve the problem.

Then I deleted the iPhone USB network interface from my Network Preference Pane, in the hope that if I would add it again, the problems would have been solved.

There's only one new problem now, I can't add the iPhone USB network interface anymore.

Is there a way to get my iPhone USB network interface back in the Network Preference Pane so I can use my iPhone as a Personal Hotspot via the USB?

Thanks in advance,

Alex de Smits

Hello, I have experienced the same problem, and solved with this actions :

1. Plug out the iphone from the MAC usb port.

2. Move file /System/Library/Extension/AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext to the trash

3. Restart MAC OS

4. Download the latest version of iTunes from http://www.apple.com/downloads

5. Reinstall iTunes from last download

6. Restart MAC OS once again.

7. Plugin the iPhone onto USB port and activate the Personal Hotspot for USB only.

You just need to replaced:

/System/Library/Extensions/AppleUSBEthernetHost.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleUSBEthe rnetHost

from Finder type “cmd + shift + G” and replace with the file linked in http://www.lucabonesini.it/2012/10/17/macbook-e-iphone-usb-tethering-cosa-fare-q uando-non-funziona/ as "The File Fab11 Posted"

Repair permissions and reboot.

It works
