No software Dvorak Layout!?!?
Didn't buy the ipad2. NOT buying the new ipad. No Dvorak keyboard layout. Seriously Apple? Come on!!!
If I wanted it as a hardware option I would just buy a laptop.

There's no use arguing with Philly. His only role in this discussion is to deny any point of view other than his own. Best to ignore him.

Trust me - for a physical keyboard the one-handed Devorak keyboard makes more than a 'marginal' difference! You should hope you never have to find that out for yourself....! For a small device the difference might perhaps be less but the annoyance factor is high when the layout you now depend on is not available. And annoyance is sufficient to keep one from purchasing something - especially when you know the company provides the option on other devices so why not this one too?!
I don't have to trust you, but prefer to trust my own research over the years. The Dvorak keyboard has never - in independent studies - lived up to the claims of its proponents (even the one handed versions, while possibly providing some limited benefit in very specific situations don't match up with the hype).
Frankly its no skin off my *** if Dvorak is included in iOS or not, but the the noise of the Dvorak Evangelists far outweighs the the actual reality of benefit or demand. If you are truly concerned about helping those with disabilities, there are far more productive battles you could fight.

Have a nice day!
The wireless keyboard in DV mode on an Ipad is AWESOME!! I already had a wireless keyboard to go with the IPad, but only just now discovered I can get the wireless keyboard into DV. I find for serious typing one wants the keyboard anyway. But yes, I would also like the pop-up keyboard to have DV.
Just trying to keep this thread alive. Does apple even care that people are willing to pay money for a dvorak keyboard integration? How hard can it be? I've never used qwerty before but with my large fingers I think learning dvorak would improve my iPhone 5 typing speed. Come on apple! Please?
I agree, I wouldn't buy an iPad, not only for this reason, but also because they took away ALL the functionality of my iPod Touch 2nd generation that was working perfectly. Now it's basically a web browser and music player. Customer satisfaction is not their strong suit.
By the way, I switched to DVORAK from QUERTY because my wrists were starting to give me problems. I am a computer programmer, and I was able to make the change. It's possible and worth it, for anyone interested. You just can not let yourself type on a QUERTY keyboard at all for a while (if you are forced to, use the two finger method). It won't take too long, and I can type much faster and my wrists are fine. Someone should at least be able to make an app to do that. I sure would appreciate it.

Thank you paulcb, this is the best post on this thread.
If you don't have something, ask for it. If you get enough folks who ask for it, well, it just might happen. Again, action speaks louder than words. m(_ _)m
(for those of you who can't see Japanese style emoji I'm bowing. The "m's" are my hands, the "( )" is my head, and the "_ _" are my closed eyes. Gotta love it.)
Another thanks. If all of us who use Dvorak send in feedback , repeatedly, it might happen.
I use the layout, and quite frankly don't care what anybody else thinks about my choice.
