iBooks Author keeps discarding the index.xml file associated with my .iba document.

When I work on a file, save it, and then try to reopen it later the application tells me that it cannot open my file because it says the index.xml is missing. Where does this file go to? I'm getting tired of having to recreate the book over and over.

oseems like too much work when you have almost 250 photos with captions already in the book and the job is finished and the file is gone in half an instant.

TM sounds like the best way. I did upgrade to 10.7.4 last nights per your suggestion One thing you do not know is that I live in the sticks and have only slow DSL. The upgrade download took nearly two hours.

Thank you for your assistance.

Argh, the same problem just happened to me again, where the index.xml file goes missing...

Last time this happened, I successfully followed the instructions to convert it to a .zip etc, but this time it won't work. When I try to unzip the file it gives the 'Error 1 – operation not permitted' message.

Please help!! I need to be able to open that iba file, it had loads of work in!

This is a serious problem, I lost days of work. While I am unhappy and hesitant to use IA again I have gone to Time Machine and duplicating to another drive. I cannot tell if it has some bearing but it happened right after I switched from landscape to portrait, then back to landscape. I shut down the file and could not reopen it after that.
