Can't LogIn To YouTube App !!

I can't log into the YouTube app although I CAN login to YouTube.Com. I even deleted my previous YouTube/gMail account but to no avail.

What's going on?

What are you talking about? There is no pathway account>settings>security that I can see.

There is only account settings>overview/sharing/privacy/email/playback (in that order).

Where do you see security?

I also cannot find anything about a 2-step verification anywhere in YouTube settings. Would they be in Google account settings somewhere now? Considering Google has recently been integrating all its offerings much tighter..?

The problem I am having that I believe the originator of this thread (and hopefully still satisfied YouTube'r) is that in iOS 6.0.1 (4S VZW) I am logged in to the YouTube app, but when I go to share a video from the photo library it pulls up what looks to be the old iOS 5 native YouTube app with a log in page. I cannot get past that log in screen. I know my Google account log in information, I use it daily. I am signed in to every Google product I use, and yet it will not let me log in in this instance. Also, the YouTube app icon in the share center in iOS 6 is the old native icon, odd.

Anyone have this issue and able to solve it?

Step 1 of "How to generate an application-specific password" has a link to "Authorizing applications & sites page" which will take you to:

https://www.google.com/accounts/IssuedAuthSubTokens?hide_authsub=1

On that page you can generate a gibberish 16 letter password that you use to login. The app should remember this, and so you should not need it again.

HOWEVER... if the app explodes, it may wipe out the remembered password, so you may someday (of course, only when you least expect it and it is most inconvenient) need to return here to generate a new application-specific password. This just happened to me, and it has been so long since I entered that application-specific password that I had completely forgotten about it.

I think this is only needed if you have enabled the higher security 2-step authentication for your Google accounts, and only for apps that are not aware of this Google security feature.

Thanks a lot for your response. Are you saying that because i am stuck on an old IOS because i dont have the latest new fangled iPad, that im blocked from having the Safari->Youtube functionality where you can dirdctly go from a google search to the youtube app OR are you saying that Apple no longer puts out a Youtube app and therefore people with the new IOS cant connect to Youtube by clicking on a google search result in their Safari browser app?

You're welcome.

It has been a while since I used iOS 5, but you should be able to watch a YouTube video in Safari after doing a search for a video or selecting a YouTube link should take you to the included YouTube app, or search for YouTube videos with the included YouTube app.

Beginning with iOS 6, the formally included YouTube app is no longer included. You can watch a YouTube video with Safari or download and use the free Google YouTube app.
