Unable to See Images in Yahoo! Mail in Safari

Hi all,

Since 2 days ago, I haven't been able to see any images in my e-mail (Yahoo! mobile mail) using the Safari in my iPhone 4 and iPad 2. This happens in both 3G and Wi-Fi mode. I've checked the Safari setting and found out that the Cookies and JavaScript are already enabled. I've even restored my iPad to an earlier backup (in which I'm 100% sure this issue didn't exist).

My friends are able to see the images on their Yahoo! mobile mail using Safari on their iDevices though.

Any idea why? Any advice? Thank you very much!

Yes, from Mail app, all images were downloaded correctly. Only when using the built-in Safari app does this happen. Of course, I had tried clearing cookies, resetting the configuration, and even restoring from old backup. None of them worked.

I also tried to log in using my other Yahoo! mail accounts, and none of them show images when opened via the built-in Safari.

I too have experienced this over the last week. I've also done the reboots, clearing cookies, history, etc...

I have 2 iPhone 4's, iPad 1 and iPad 3. They are all on different iOS's, 4.3.1, 5.0.1, and 5.1.

No images show for any store ads I'm subscribed to such as kohls, newegg, etc...

All I see is a white ? In a blue box.

I have a few yahoo accts but none show images.

I have also tried other browsers other than safari, such as skyfire, atom, and cab.

Also on the main mobile yahoo email page all images are gone as well where there would be pics for Flickr, entertainment, sports and top news.

Now unlike you saying that your friends have no issues, I see the opposite.

All my friends have the same exact issue as me.

I have gone further and tried this on a htc android phone and also an android tablet but there were no issues.

It seems this is limited to iOS devices.

I have called apple support but they claim it's a yahoo issue.

I have also emailed yahoo support but they have not replied yet.

Same issue here. Both Apple and Yahoo! have been notified of the situation, so hopefully a fix will be released soon. In the meantime, you have two options to be able to view your mail with pictures -- (1) use the Mail app included in iOS, logging in with your Yahoo! account information or (2) when in Yahoo! Mail in Safari, click on your profile name/pic in the bottom left corner, choose Options, and then choose the last option, which displays your e-mail using the older classic version of Yahoo! Mail. It's not as pretty or easy to manuever around, but at least it shows the images in your e-mails, which is the most important thing.

@Lau

I don't agree with what yahoo told you.

Firstly this is NOT a new iPad issue. This is an iDevice/iOS issue.

Secondly, this has always worked up until a week ago.

My guess is that it has to be something yahoo updated as I am on 3 different iOS's on 4 different iDevices and it works on none of them.

I had friends try and they have the same issue and none of them have new iPads.

Also explain why when you switch to classic view can you see them ?

It has to be a change they made to their mobile version of email.

I got another great answer from yahoo.

They told me to clear cookies, cache, etc...

They said to reboot.

They said to try opera.

It seems no one reads my emails there to support nor do they do proper troubeshooting.

I am in the IT field and I appreciate good support when I get it but unfortunately it's so rare.

The first thing they should be doing is trying to either replicate the issue or verify whether yahoo did any updates on their end.

Instead I'm being sent ridulous help links because they can't even read.

I've sent all information necessary from screenshots to os to devices.

Personally I believe yahoo made an update that's screwing everything up.

Not only have I done those things they suggested but I told them twice already.

The only thing I havent tried was opera. I tried 4 different browsers and none worked.

I tried opera just to shut them up and it didn't work either. It seems opera handles mobile mail differently than all the other browsers as they show no pictures at all. They aren't missing, they just arent there with how opera handles the mail. They instead give you a link to view the store advertisements.

I think I need to call them and see how far up the chain I can get with someone who can actually read and even troubleshoot.
