Translation of folder names

Hi everyone,

is there maybe a list somewhere with translation of Mac folder names (i.e. utilities folder) into dutch??

Namely, not all folder name translate directly into my language, which sometimes

makes it hard to solve problems, although it is explained perfectly in english in the

community discussions. After all I am new to Mac haha! Thanks!

If such a thing as a master list does exist, it's not available to users -- only to Apple and whoever they contract to do the NL localisation.

However, you can find this information scattered in various localisation files on your Mac. For instance, in Mac OS X v10.6, the specific example you gave

Utilities = Hulpprogramma's

is to be found here

</System/Library/CoreServices/SystemFolderLocalizations/nl.lproj/SystemFolderLoc alizations.strings>

(You should be careful not to alter or change anything in or about these files.)

If you need something to do, that could be your project -- create an English-Dutch Mac glossary by compiling the info scattered about in nl.lproj/*.strings or Dutch.lproj/*.strings files on your boot drive. (But, whatever you do, always backup first.)
