Hi Guys

I faced the same problem when I updated the iOS from 5.0.1 to 5.1 on my iPhone 4s. I spent about 3 hours trying to solve the problem. Finally I was able to work out this tricky issue as following:

  1. Go to settings
  2. General
  3. Reset
  4. Reset Networking Settings
  5. Settings
  6. General
  7. Network
  8. Switch the Wi-Fi On
  9. Enter your Credentials (check you internet connection by accessing any webpage, i.e. google.com)
  10. General
  11. Setup your Microsoft Exchange account
  12. Restart your phone
  13. Test sending and receiving

The above procedure solved the issue and I was able to send and receive messages through the exchange using my iPhone 4s. you may notice that I went through a detailed steps but it will take about 2 min to be done.

I hope this will work for you too.

We are having problems with numerous iphones in our office since the 5.1 upgrade - everyone has Exchange. I have a 4S, and have had no problem, but the 4's and 3's aren't working, even after hard resets, trashing acct and reentering it, wifi and/or 3g/4g. There was a story in the paper the other day that since 5.1 and the new ipad came out, the 4G networks are overloaded for both ATT and Vz. More people trying to watch HD on their devices and the downloading of the IOS. I have a feeling this is a big part of it, but doesn't explain why it won't work over the wifi.

Ok all I have a solution to my issue!! This may also be the solution to some of your problems as well. I met with our IT department today to find out that our server address has changed due to the upgrade of Enterprise Exchange accounts. I put in the new server address and it started working back with no problems. So you may need to check with your IT department to see if your addresses have changed with the new Microsoft upgrades. Good Luck to All!!!! Thanks for the info it really helped me to figure out my issue

I'm having the same problem - my Exchange e-mail on my new iPad randomly stopped working this morning, but my iPhone4 (not a 4S) continues to work fine. I had moved a sizeable folder out of my Exchange Inbox and onto a personal folder on my computer - maybe this is like chronicfathead's corrupt Inbox solution.

I tried the 12 step solution from Asiri, but no joy.

Given that both devices are running iOS5.1, it's weird that there's a difference between the devices.

Update - now my iPhone isn't working... must be an Exchange issue.

Yes, I'm having the same issue. iPhone 3GS and new iPad 3 both running 5.1 (the iPhone was upgraded) and connecting to exchange email over wifi is terrible. "Loading..." or "checking for email..." for many minutes at a time Almost non functional. Of course the iPad is wifi only so there's no choice.

Apple, are you listening? This is broken!

I am having the same issue that everyone else has talked about but I don't think it has anything to do with the Exchange servers. I say this because I have a Samsung Galaxy 2 that is also setup (work phone) to receive the emails and the email arrives at the same time as my laptop. Because I don't want to carry both phones I setup the exchange server on my iPhone 4s and everything was working fine but I noticed yesterday that I missed some emails at lunch. I have been testing this with all your suggestions this morning and nothing seems to work with the iPhone. I continue to get the emails very fast on the Galaxy but not the iPhone. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi all, same issues we are facing since we upgraded our iphones and ipads but little differently as, one of our users has approx. 4,000 contact in his address book at his mailbox at Exchange 2007 SP3, after couple of days and some times same day his contacts getting multiplying and ended up on 50,000, 60,000 and sometimes more if his mailbox is out of monitoring, we need to stop synching mailbox with Exchange from iPad so that he can get emails and all on his blackberry and on his Outlook properly, still searching to resolve this issue, everything else i.e., emails and calendars are working fine on wifi as well as with network operator's connectivity, meanwhile after disconnecting iOS devices from Exchange server user is using Samsung Note with Gingerbread 2.3.6 and everything is working fine, so the issue is at iOS end that gives prolems differently to different users, Apple needs to address the issues immediately.

We have about 1700 student iPads running iOS 4.3.5 on our campus, and reports are starting to trickle in that clients can't receive mail any longer as of this morning. The affected accounts are Google Apps for Education accounts configured as Exchange accounts. I am also not able to get mail on my iPad running the latest 5.1.

The error I am seeing in the Mail app is "Cannot connect to mail server".

I'm hoping Apple fixes this ASAP. :/

I'm having same problem on my iphone 4, since update my iphone will not connect to my email a/c, I get error message saying either my email address or password is incorrect, which of coarse it is not.

My MSN hotmail email account works fine, with no problems at all.

This is happening on my iPhone 4 and my iPad 2, if I turn my wi-fi off and use 3g, it sometimes will access

my email a/c and other times not.

I've tried deleting my email access and re-connecting it but no change
