iTunes: Syncing media content to iOS devices and iPod
What exactly happens when you try to sync?
Does iTunes see the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

Try syncing using the manual method
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod
Last, backup and then restore from backup. Not that any synced media like apps and music that are not in your iTunes library will be lost:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
back up, yes, yes, I know, i always say "i must do a back up", but i always forget....i know...at my loss 😟
I will rephrase.. i didn't buy a whole new pc, sorry, I had to reformat as i kept getting the blue screen of death!
I will try all that everyone has advised.
Hope it works! 🙂
Music is intended to go one way: from your computer to the iPod. Going the other way is contrary to the design and is not trivial.
See this old post: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2452022
Since it is so dated some of the links may not work.
iTunes will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads etc) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
iTunes & iPod software

A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
I found this guide very helpful when I needed to transfer music from my iPod Touch to my computer
Your link to sharepod just leads to this thread... here is a link to their website: http://www.getsharepod.com/

It works great for me on my win 7 and it's a completely free software, no limits or anything like that.

Georgae, that only works for iTunes purchases and John ablve already covered that
The best thing I've tried is to download iTools their you can add and transfer your musics videos etc. in your computer...
I'm not sure what to do when you have Windows Vista, but for Mac users, I just linked my ipod touch to my macbook using my USB cable and was able to authorize my computer to receive downloaded files from the itunes store via icloud. You will be prompted through this process if you both of your devices are signed into icloud. I then had to download the songs on my computer in itunes via icloud.
Thank you, fantastic it worked for me in Win 7
I had the same problem today when I reset my computer system. I found a program called SharePod that seemed to have helped. And it was free. . U can find it here on the CNET site: http://download.cnet.com/SharePod/3000-2141_4-10794489.html?tag=mncol;2
iPod offers three ways to transfer music from your computer. You can select one of the following update modes from the iPod Preferences menu in iTunes:
1. Automatically update all songs and playlists. This is the default mode, in which your entire music library, including playlists, is automatically synched to your iPod. If the music library on your computer exceeds the iPod storage capacity, iTunes will offer to choose a selection of songs to sync to iPod.
2. Automatically update selected playlists. With this option, iTunes automatically copies only the playlists you have selected to iPod when you connect it to the computer. This option can be selected by accessing the Music tab of the iPod settings.
3. Manually manage music. You can also choose to transfer music to iPod manually. This allows you to drag and drop individual songs and playlists from iTunes to iPod. You can find this option by accessing the Summary tab of the iPod settings.
You need to do some preparations before we start exporting music to computer:
1) Computer (Desktop or laptop)
2) iTunes is installed on your computer;
3) Apple's iPod touch, nano or shuffle.

this helped me too - tried a few different options and nothing worked, then found your post. so so easy to do :-) thanks
Sync it to your iPod Touch using iTunes.
Now that the songs are in the new folder with the four-letter names. When I move them to iTunes the copy over but the still have the four-letter names. Then it also sync'd to my ipod and doubled all music.
I tried importing files to itunes, moving files to itunes music folder, etc but nothing added to itunes with the updates to the music files to give then the song name. They have stayed the four-letter names.
What am I doing wrong? I am using Win 7 Pro 64 bit, iTunes 11.
Tried some of the free programs but when going to transfer they want you to but to transfer songs over 5+.
How do you transfer music from your computer to your iPod? If the content you are transferring is not from iTunes?
