This may seem idiot-simple, but...

I was getting this persistent "enter Caldav password popup", just like you. I had just restored a previous backup.

Solution: I opened my Yahoo mail ( settings >mail contacts calendars>yahoo > account >) and the password was gone. I re-entered it, got a message to logon to my yahoo account. Did that. And now, no more Caldav popups. And my calendar synced up by itself.

I think the process of restoring the backup erased my Yahoo mail password and Caldav uses it. So, check your mail/contacts/calendars (google, yahoo, whatever) and make sure that the password is there. Caldav won't work without it.

Good luck.

Hi,

I had this same continual problem with the CalDav prompt popping up and asking for my "Yahoo" server account password, even after I had entered my email account password in the Account Setup page in Settings. I do not use a CalDAV service, so I had no idea why the prompt kept asking me for a password for it. Through some research, I came to find that the root of this problem existed within my Yahoomail account, and not within the iPad's iOS. Here's how I solved the problem: I logged into my Yahoomail account via the iPad's Safari browser, and then, once logged into my Yahoomail account, tapped on my email address at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen. I then tapped the "Options" tab that popped up, and selected " "Classic Mail". You have to do this in order to allow the service to let you into your account settings. Once logged in, go to the "Contacts" tab, located two tabs over to the right of the "Inbox" tab. Once inside Calendars, take a look at the left side of the screen and you should see the heading "Calendars" about 1/3 of the way down the screen. Under this heading, you should see a Calendar name that corresponds to something to do with your name or person with a black check mark in a box to the left side of it. Uncheck this box, as this represents the CalDAV that the prompt keeps asking you to give the password for. Once you uncheck the box, go back to the iPad's Settings, go to Mail, go to Add Account, and renter your Yahoomail ID and password. Blue check marks should shortly appear next to all of your entries here, and you should almost instantly see your email account start filling up the Mail Application. I hope this helps anyone else who has had this problem.

Had the same thing happened.

Drkreis had the solution.

I had changed the password on my Yahoo e-mail account... and rather than the i-device prompting me for a new password, it brought up that unexpected weird CalDAV request. Poor programming design, especially as I do NO calendar synching.

So, the easy solution is exactly that... under settings Mail, the account, it will say Password with "Required" greyed out. Simply type the new password in there and you'll be all set!

I am really struggling with this caldav problem. I have a yahoo email and calendar account which is synched to my pc. I have an iphone 4 - not 's' I started to have problems with being asked for a caldev password. I tried deleting my email account and then reinstalling it. All that happens now is that it seems to be stuck on 'searching for updates' I have tried deleting and re adding my accountseveral times but always the same result. Can someone please help, most of the solutions I see are for the Iphone4s which don't seem to work with my Iphone4

Thanks Drkreis. I too started noticing this mesage in the past week. Seems to come up after I unlock the phone and after I try to use the phone for any purpose. I first called my cell phone carrier who has great customer service (Verizon) and this was news to them. They checked Apple discussion group and found that others had the same problem. They suggested it had something to do with unchecking calendar sharing (Funny thing is I have no idea how to even begin to share the calendar, so that wasn't too encouraging). Verizong transferred me to Yahoo mail tech support. They in turn sent me to yet a different number for cell phone mail tech support. There I got a message that said they do not offer tech support for yahool mail via cell phones. I called the first yahoo number again and firmly told them I wanted to talk to a live person to solve this problem. Apparently for insistant customers they transfer you to a call center across the world (India from the sounds of it). The connection was horrible, the english was strained and they wanted over $100 to solve the problem and I wasn't even confident they understood what the problem was. I decided to look online myself. And..... happily found your post and simple solution. Seems to be working fine now (lets wait and see if it stays that way). I saw a more involved solution below your posting but thought I'd try your simpler process of drilling through iphone's "settings" to get to mail where I can input my yahoo password into the empty password field. You just saved me another couple hours I could easily have wasted in transfer **** and with inept tech support people trying to figure something out from a book. One happy California girl!
