Apple should have fixed that problem by now. I upgraded immediately, and I have experienced only one small glitch which took me all of 30 seconds to solve. Adobe CS6, MS Office 2011, iLife, iWork, etc. all work perfectly under Mountain Lion. Holding off won't really do anything for you, but if you're worried about having problems after the upgrade, the best way to find out if there could be problems is to find others who have a similar setup to yours and see what they're saying. When new server updates come out, I usually wait a week or so before performing the upgrades just to make sure that there were not major issues that other server admins discovered. I have upgraded to each new version of OS X on the day they released for over 10 years, and I've never had major problems.

I'm impressed that you can contain yourself so well 🙂 I never could. My company is an iOS and Mac developer in addition to being an IT and email service provider. We put Mountain Lion through its paces and found no show stopping bugs. We encountered only one small issue with Mail and Exchange IMAP accounts, but it was easily solved by simply disabling the user's account in Mail preferences, and reenabling it. That's not quite a bug, but just a minor tweak that had to be made. If you take care of your Mac, and you don't load it full of crap and a bunch of worthless preference panes, menu apps and other junk then you should be fine. I always recommend restarting again right after your Mac has started up from the install. It takes a few moments for Mountain Lion to read all of your user preferences and make conversions as needed. That makes your system seem a bit slow at first. Another restart will clear it up.

Well, I never said containing myself is easy, but I figure, what's the rush? Plus, it will give me something to "look forward to" 🙂

That's cool that your ompany is an iOS and Mac developer, so you put it through the paces and there was only the issue of mail? That's not so bad! But you never know, right? I remember last year, with the Lion upgrade, it was fine and then there was the issue of the sleep/wake thing, and then wi-fi was dropping. It was crazy.

Even though I waited, down the road after one of the updates, I started having some issues with the wi-fi that were pretty interesting and pretty bad. I would have internet on all of my devices, (ipod, ipad2, and even my MacBook, which runs Tiger), as well as my iBook that runs OS 9.)) But, I had no connection whatsoever on my iMac! So we knew it was Lion related.

To remedy the problem for a short time, I had to have my iMac wired, if I wanted to connect to the internet. Then a few minor tweaks here and there, and it started coming around again and then there was the latest update, which solved the problem. So, for me, self - containment means I'll just ride the wave and when I see what is going on with other people and their Mountain Lion upgrades, when I see that it seems there are no major complaints, I can get off my surfboard and come ashore and upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion 🙂
I do keep all of my Apple products super clean and updated. I don't like unnecessary clutter 😉 I like my machines to run smoothly! And yes, always restart after a major (or not so major) upgrade.

I take it you're liking Mountain Lion. What machine are you on? I'm on an iMac, late 2009, 21.5 inch.

ps..plus I have the Olympics to keep me busy 🙂

The licence states clearly:

... download, install, use, and run the software for personnal, non-commercial use on each Apple-branded computer running OS X Lion or snow Leopard that you own or control.

So this is not restricted to macs in your household, as long as you control these macs, and it is not commercial use.

You can read the licence from the link at the AppStore.

So you are saying that if a family of 5 all owning mac computers (living under the same roof) want to upgrade to mountain lion, then they all have to make 5 deparate purchases?

No, if you are the one who controls the macs for your family members, you can install the software on all their macs using your AppleID.

It's $19.99! I don't understand why someone wouldn't want to buy it for their self. It's not like we're talking about Windows 7 Pro, which is $299 retail. I don't meant to be rude about this, but if someone won't pay for OS X, and tries to look for some way to skirt the cost, they don't deserve it. Apple can't deliver great products to us and not get paid for it. Great products cost money. This whole thread was started by someone who obviously wanted to get it for nothing. Apple doesn't need customers like that.

Okay relax it's not that serious I just have an extra code and offered it that is all no one asked I didn't know it was a violation I'm a new apple owner and I don't read the license agreements so now I know and it's a dead issue but if I were you I would find something to do you have too much time on your hands if you need to rant about nothing. FYI there are people who own apples that are unemPloyed not by choice and teens who have limited allowances so go away and what are you the apple spokesperson how do you know what apple likes.

I'm not ranting, and I am relaxed. Unemployed or "limited allowances" do not merit getting everything for free. I know what Apple likes because I worked for them for four and a half years, and I work closely with them as part of my job. I'm not going to debate this. I was simply pointing out that the price of OS X is less than Windows, and that it's ridiculous for people to not pay for it considering how inexpensive it is. If you give a mouse a cookie...
