This morning on a full charge

First 1 1/2 hours of constant use of  safari emails twitter kindle app rss at 25% brightness I only used 5% battery

1 hour of same use at 100% brightness used 18% and the iPad got noticeably warm all over. Not just the left corner

( which seems way way higher that it was on my ipad2, but I traded that off so I can't compare anymore

This is with no videos or downloads or games being played.

Will continue this morning to see if it gets hot again

Agreed! Jus a lil anxious..... Still a great product

Yes, it's warmer than the previous iPads. But, what would anyone expect with so much going on in there? It has spectacular graphics, is faster, and has a huge battery. Any form of computer runs hotter when it is doing more. I did notice it is warmer, thought to myself: "of course," and have continued enjoying an absolutely wonderful product. It's way better than the first iPad, and in many ways better than iPad 2.

My excellent, slim, new case provides just enough insulation to make it hard to notice the additional warmth.

    Relax and enjoy it.

I played Real Racing 2 for approx. 15 minutes and the bottom left was warm.

It may be a litlte bit warmer than my iPad 2 seems to get when performing similar functions.

    I'm not concerned yet.

I'm using a Case Mate "Tuxedo." I like it even more than I thought I would. It's very slim, essentially the same as Apple's case, but has a back as well. It has magnets which put the iPad to sleep, can be rolled to prop it up, and seems very resistant to any kinds of stains.

I'm using the YooBao case, ordered from Amazon for the iPad 2. But, works great with the new iPad. I like it a lot!

Having read all the posts about iPad 3s running hot I was slightly apprehensive when I picked mine up this morning.  No problems at all after a couple of hours heavy use as it is only marginally warmer down the left had side than my iPad 2.  To protect the entire iPad I have put it in the leather Snugg case from my iPad 2.

Hi there, my iPad 3 is extremely hot down the LEFT HAND SIDE and the remainder of the backing is warm. Is there a fix ?? I have only used it for close to 30 minutes for surfing the web

    Regards

I have the same problem with the new iPad heating issue. I only used it for a few minutes and it becomes hot! This never happened to my 1st iPad and iPad 2. I returned the unit back to Best Buy. I am disappointed :(

Mine is pretty warm too, after playing Asphalt 6 for a few minutes, I would not say hot, but very warm. Probably not a problem? 64gb wifi lte verizon.

My new iPad gets too hot. Don't care to measure how hot because it's simply unpleasant and interferes with the seamless use of this amazing technology.  I find I think twice about how I want to use it, what all my settings should be, when will it get too uncomfortable to keep using....

Heat was never an issue with my iPad 1&2. Totally seamless user experience with little to remind me I was using a computer. The heat issue really takes away some of the "magical" for me.

    Chamar,

Is your Snugg 2 cover wake/sleep working with your new iPad?
