New iPad overheating?

and forgot to say,,, after the tempurature screen goes off., my ipad hang till 10 mins,,, i mean while im using it.

UMm we have a wifi version and one time even when not in use it got hot also the egg cooking thing is not a joke!

Also has the same thing battery and overheat

So, is there an answer, i agree that you shouldn't have to change any of your settings to resolve this problem. But my ipad is nearly too hot to handle, 10 months old, with a really bad battery charge and bad battery life. At the moment away on holiday ( no, not left in the sun, this problem started about 2 months ago ) so can't take it in to the nearest shop. Think i should maybe register this problem officially with Apple before my warranty runs out ??

in my opinion, It actually does harm the processor and battery.

It got hot 1st day but I suppose it was because of me using it for few hours straight, constantly downloading apps and using others on full brightness.

We've got 1year warranty, so if it explodes it will be replaced 😉

I'm still having the heat issue though I believe I've figured out when and why this particular iPad heats up to uncomfortable temps, subsequently, draining the battery, uncharacteristically.

Timeline for my iPad's usage during last night through tonight, over 24 hours of usage which includes a period of uncomfortable hot radiant heat;

Last night, with100% battery, wifi not connected to router, periods of browser use only & an hour of being the hotspot for my MacBook Pro & iMac. All well, normal temps, great battery!!!

This morning I began using the iPad with cellular-only (wifi turned off).

I usually use cellular-only unless I'm developing web & apps or am required to be on my home's internal network.

I used the iPad all morning, through the afternoon on cellular only. The iPad took naps for a few hours off and on through the day, all usual activity. I left it alone around 12PM.

Around 1PM, I began browsing again, I noticed the battery was in the high 90% range, I thought that was awesome considering the length of time I'd been using it, awesome battery!!!I installed a new router for the tv earlier in the day so I turned the iPad's WiFi ON, logged in to establish a known network and connected to the 5GHz WiFi network then continued reading and browsing, as usual, mostly web surfing with Safari.

I configured new sets of colors (wallpaper) for the lock screen / home screen, continued browsing and noticed the iPad was getting really hot, similar to the MacBook Pro's feeling when it's in my lap, that causes concern. I checked the time, it was near 2:30PM. I continued browsing and having fun, no apps were open except Safari with 5 tabs of static pages and 1 search page showing results. I installed and logged into Evernote (App Store) then closed it.

Being connected to wifi, today, the heat was pretty intense and the battery jumped from 90s % to 60s % in a matter of an hour, plus the heat giving off was concerning. The heat, for this new iPad, only begins with wifi turned on and whilst being connected. I kept all apps closed, usual browsing habit, with my default settings for the iPad containing no background app refreshing, etcetera. /p>

The heat from the iPad was so intense and the battery decreased so drastically by 2:30-2:45PM that I thought maybe the iPad wasn't updated to the latest version or something was just not right. Right away I began checking the software versioning and checking the settings, all being "normal to me", the heat was uncomfortable enough for me to start looking for some kind of hint of a solution, also looking to see when the next version of iPad was due to release... , I searched and found this thread in the results, that was at 3:11PM today. I had other things to do and after typing an initial 1 sentence reply, I decided the cause is wifi related, I turned wifi off and let it rest for hours. I picked it back up at 10PM and began typing this response. The BATTERY now 43% at 10PM, and no radiant heat!!!

From 10PM to present moment, the iPad is not radiating heat and I've been typing this reply in HTML-Mode this entire time, the time is currently 11:53PM and the battery is 11% with WiFi off, only Safari on and open, the cause of the uncomfortable radiant heat in this iPad is due to turning on and using WiFi. Also, the battery drops rapidly after the initial heat being released as I've been typing and watching the percentages drop every 3-4 minutes since 10PM 43% to now 11:55PM JUST ALERTED 10% battery!!!

The battery dropping so many percentages on this iPad IS A direct RESULT OF THE IPAD GENERATING EXTREME HEAT AFTER CONNECTING TO WIFI - THIS is a NEW IPAD! That's the only explanation as I can usually type and browse on this iPad not connected to WiFi while the iPad's battery remains in steady percentages and normal temps for hours if not days prior to having to plug in thunderbolt. Now that it's known, what or how is this fixed?

I posted this at 12:12AM Aug 3 with percentage of battery at 6% and heat within regular temps. From 10PM - now the battery dropped from 43% to 4% while usually I'd still have plenty of battery life! the only difference is from wifi connection! connect to WiFi and the iPad runs too hot causing battery to maybe not calibrate properly, very similar to MacBook Pro on mavericks. iOS is up to date.

Grrrrr. This community keeps losing my iPad's session.

I hypothesize that this particular (new, 64GB verizon cellular with updated iOS) iPad runs too hot causing battery to maybe not calibrate properly, very similar to MacBook Pro on mavericks. iOS is up to date.

I Have an iPad air 2 64gb cellular model, had for about two weeks

with no issues but suddenly started to get hot just now after 40 minutes of use while just checking emails. While it's not burning hot it's very noticeable and uncomfortable. It's hot on the right side (holding in vertical position, home button on the bottom, facing screen), using wifi only. A bit worrisome as this is a new development. Up to now have used for same duration and never got hot.

MY IPad Air gets hot on the back warmer towards the bottom.

WE all can't just exchange it if your warranty has ran out or not able to afford a new one. I think Apple need to do a recall or have customers bring their IPad in for service just like when they do a recall on other things, if so many people are having the same problem and I am sure that the workers at Apple have brought this to the company's attention.
