New ipad overheating left hand side , after light use , should i be worried?

Hi guys

Got my lovely new ipad, the new ipad seems to be generating quite a lot of heat, bottom left hand side of the ipad, just after 20 mins of use, whilst surfing online. I have had an ipad 2 before and never had this problem. I have only charged it for an hour so far, and havent done a full charge yet, should i be worried? I aint happy because its getting rather uncomfortable holding it.

Same thing here. Got this, opened at 89% charge right out of the box. I charged it to 100%, and after limited use, probably less than 20 min ,battery dropped down to 94% and the left corner was too hot to hold. My hands continued to be noticeably warm and uncomfortable. Will have to return this if this is not fixed. You'd think people would have mentioned this in reviews or something before the release.

The thing I hate about returning products, is they just exchange it with an used version. Last year my iPad 2 had a screen that was popping out, and they replaced it. I was putting my sim card in and there was one from AT&T card already in there, and I live in Canada. There was also a small scratch on the back, I called Apple and they said that's policy to exchange a defect with a repaired one.... I'd rather return then rebuy.

The battery life on mine improved a bit ofter I did a software update but still runs uncomfotably hot. Not at all like my iPad 2, which also seem to run longer on a charge. That and the screen with a strage tint along the edge, means it's going back. This is a replacement for the orignal. It's a pain becuase my nearest store is 40mi away. It think I am going to return it and wait a couple of weeks and see if everything goes back to normal, it seems like the first run have had a lot of trouble, otherwise, I may buy an ipad 2 (I can't believe I already sold mine) instead. The screen wasn't as shart but but the quality was superior.

iPad 3rd Gen's battery is twice the capacity of the iPad 2 but it uses the same charger so a 7-8 hour recharge time is expected. The iPad's PCB is on the right so it's probably the processor/s you can feel getting hot. normally the iPad won't allow itself to get above 40C but if it is too hot to touch, call AppleCare or take it back to the store you got it from
