smart cover not working

I got my new iPad yesterday and restored it using my 1st gen iPad's backup.

The smart cover doesn't work. I went to Settings, General and there is no Smart Cover option.

Then someone suggested using a big strong magnet in the upper corner to get the button to show up.

I did that, still no option.

Anyone else having this problem?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2), i7 16GB RAM

Settings>General>iPad Cover Lock/Unlock

thank u very much,,i hv changed 2 covers and even the store keeper didn't help me..

this really worked
