The New iPad will not sync all photo's

I picked up the new iPad yesterday at the Apple store and am having a problem getting it to sync all of my photo library.

Im using iTunes on Windows 7 to sync the "My Pictures" folder to the iPad.

It will sync some but not all of the folders in the "My Pictures". I have deleted the "iPod Photo Cache" folder, that did not help.

I have 2 iPhones and 2 older iPad 1's which sync the photo's just fine.

iPad (3rd generation) Wi-Fi + 4G (VZ), iOS 5.1

I agree! We should write to several online magazines about this problem with a link to this thread. Apple has to get under pressure. Otherwise they will not act and work on it as they should. But who of us will do that? How many? Is everybody just awaiting that "someone" writes to the magazines? Great. I already did some weeks ago... How about you? So we ALL should write them, not just one or two persons!

I eventaually got on to senior apple support person who was very honest with me.

They accept that the re-sizing approach is just a workaround and she promised that they acknowledge and are working on the problem. Honest enough also not to promise anything anytime soon.

I asked for a refund even though I was outside the 14 day period (UK). This was accepted and they picked it up earlier this week.

All in all very disappointing as I need a new ipad (and I need to sync 10,000 large pics from SLR) and I cannot find a 64GB ipad2 anywhere now.

Apple support here in the UK have been very responsive (to me anyway), no fix but at least honest and upfront.

I WILL buy another as soon as I hear that the problem is fixed properly.

My advice, if one of the main reasons for having an ipad3 is to sync lots of large pics, is to ask for your money back.....frimly but politely.

It seems this this is a major problem accross all OS's, judiging from reading numerous posts on this now 14 page thread.

I'm using Windows XP Pro SP3, with the new iPad (3). i tried syncing 250 photos (1.5Gb) this morning. the first couple of times it stalled a 1/3rd of the way through.

So I deleted the iPod Photo Cache folder that Apple made on my PC...No help

So then I made additional folders on the PC, to help with transfers. All the next synch did was shuffle all the photos like a deck of cards on my iPad.

What a waste of time and one of the biggest selling points for me with the iPad. very disappointed...

This is something I'd expect from MS but not Apple...

Come on Mr Tim Cook, time for a fix for this !!!!

c/p from another thread: the below worked for me in the following combinations (Source: iTunes running on MacOS/WinXP/WinVista, Target iPad3 WiFi):

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just came off the call with the support line.

I told them that I did everything that was suggested (including resetting the iPad completely).

And they suggested to disable the iCloud account/Service on the iPad completely and then resynch the pictures. (even though I had the Photostream explicitely disabled) - and surprise-surprise now it works for all types of pictures (Raw-JPG, small (1000x800px) big (4000x2000px))...

In a nutshell: seems to be an incompatibility between the iTunes Photosynch and the iCloud service on the iPad.

I am glad I have now my pictures (>5000) again on my iPad (but always disabling/enabling iCloud prior to synching is really only an 'annoying' workaround) - so we need to wait for the next iCloud SW version on the iPad...

cheers
