The New iPad will not sync all photo's

I picked up the new iPad yesterday at the Apple store and am having a problem getting it to sync all of my photo library.

Im using iTunes on Windows 7 to sync the "My Pictures" folder to the iPad.

It will sync some but not all of the folders in the "My Pictures". I have deleted the "iPod Photo Cache" folder, that did not help.

I have 2 iPhones and 2 older iPad 1's which sync the photo's just fine.

Actually the call went well. Took about 3 or 4 minutes to get bumped to level 2 support. Spent about 15 minutes going through different scenarios with that technician. Not suprisingly, that person could not solve the problem. However he did kick it over to the engineers and promised a follow-up in about 4 business days. He also gave me his email address and direct extension so I could follow-up if I didn't hear anything. (Did have one brief follow-up I emailed him about an hour or so after our call and he responded promptly.) So, while I didn't really expect a resolution, I am guardedly optimistic that Apple is actually looking into this. I also passed along the ID number of this thread so he (and others) could flip through the notes and see some of the solutions you all have tried.

So more to folow, I guess. I'll update you all when I hear something further.

I am also using Windows 7, and the sync of my photos was a pain.

There are about 8000 photos, the sync stops without any message, leaving me with only a few albums and randomly missing about 5000 photos. I tried to hit the sync button again and again, and some more pictures get copied to the iPad.

The funny thing is, if I hit the button, the memory indicator shows more used memory, but when ist stops,it goes down.

So I have deletetd the photo cache several times, and told iTunes not to sync the photos.

When iTunes asks, if I want to keep the photos on the iPad I answer NO.

But the photos are still on the iPad, at least some of them. Restarting the iPad, doing it again and again finally shows no more photos on the iPad. And after deleting the photo cache, suddenly it works.

I have all my photos on the iPad, but at some albums tap a thumb shows a total different photo.

Ok, this better then before...

I also have 64gb new iPad wifi only. I don't have iPhoto app. Using it with Windows 7 64-bit laptop. Same problem. I made an appointment at Apple Store Genius Bar. They wouldn't even look at this thread. They told me to uninstall iTunes and related software in a specific order, which we did. Then a reinstall. Then a sync. Again, it didn't sync photos. And they basically shrugged their shoulds and gave up and literally said, "that is the limit of your support. It appears to be a problem with iTunes.". They refused to look at this seven page posting. I dealt with Matt and Andrew at the Century City, CA Apple Store. Very disappointing experience.

I am having similar problems syncing photos to my new iPad. It appears that the problem occurs with any subfolder that contains video files that are not supported by Apple (non .MP4 file). I have an iPod touch which will sync all of the same subfolders and it does not experience the same problem. All of the photos import correctly on the iTouch, but fail to import on the new iPad. It is really frustrating! I spent well over an hour on the phone with a tecnician earlier today, trying all sorts of things (stripping all the photo off the iPad, syncing single folders with and without video files, resetting the sync history, rebooting the PC, shutting down iTunes, restarting iTunes, etc.).

In the end, any subforder containing video files failed to load photo onto the iPad. The frustrating thing is that I have not sellected the check box "Include Videos" (it is unchecked). The tech suggested that I remove all of my video files from my subfolders (ARGH! This is NOT a solution.)

APPLE: Please fix this problem! This has created a LOT of frustration with an otherwise nice device. I have wasted countless hours trying to fix this issue...please fix this ASAP.

Same problem here. Am since DAYS in contact with Apple using telephone, checking out the issue and possible fixes and so on. Well, they know about the problem and are working on it. Just a question: What Firewall/Anti Virus program are you using? It helped for me to deinstall (deinstall, NOT deactivate... completly deinstall) Norton Internet Security... suddenly all photos were synchronized. But this is NOT a solution, of course. Apple has to fix that problem.

It is not JUST a security suite problem, but: Deinstalling Norton Internet Security HELPED. That´s also what Apple tells me on the phone. As I say, I am talking to one and the same person of apple day for day at the moment (unfortunately) to solve the problem. They ask me things, I shall try this, that and so on and give them informations and so on. And the security suite was one "solution". But of course the problem is iTunes. Apple has to fix that soon. I am angry about it, too.

I've had this problem from day 1 when new iPad was released and tried every solution that consumed about 16 hours of my life last weekend and was one of the first to call tech support about problem. I did manage to get all photos on iPad by removing and syncing 1 to 2 folders at a time (7000 photos) and thought problem was solved after trying every other solution tech gave me first; i even bought another ipad next day only to see that ipad had same issue. Well 6 days later I went to add more photos and they wouldn't sync and messed up my other folders and now I am back at square one.

As we all agree this issue is an IPad 3 issue (not iTunes, windows 7, iOS 5.1) because all my other devices work fine like everyone else.

I just hope Apple does the right thing and gets fixed ASAP and not 3 months from now when new software update comes out.

P.S. would also be nice if apple gave anyone with documented issue $50 iTunes card or sometime because I wasted nice chunk of time trying to fix. Time is money!

So I've also gone through the apple store genius bar visit. They gave me a new iPad and the problem still occurred.

I had a call with AppleCare and they transferred me to a "senior" advisor. I told her about this thread and she told me not to read these because all "those people" do is complain and make up problems that don't really exist. . I thought that was funny since I am one of those people.

Anyway after trying all their suggestions and having none of them work I have essentially given up. I purchased a camera connection kit and manually copy my photos to an SD card and transfer them to the iPad. . This is NOT the way I wanted to do this but I am just fed up.

So yeah that would be nice if they gave us gift cards, it'll never happen but would be nice. . I have spent countless hours try ing to fix this AND 30 bucks on the camera connection kit.
