what is a springboard in relation to an iPod?

Kind of.... i still want to know why it crashed and why i need to take a screenshot

just normal Photos that the iPod comes with.
It seems to be a bug on the iPod touch. I know many others who have seen the same problem, and the bug has been reported to Apple. It happens when the user tries to edit a screenshot, and the problem only seems to happen on the iPod touch. Hopefully Apple is working on an iOS update to fix it.
But the thing is that I can edit any other screenshot apart from that one. Is it any help to say what the screen shot was of?
SO in that case the bugs are just apple faults? No virus, and no accidental jailbreak (coz i havent jailbroken on purpose, can i do it without knowing it?!)
Then it sounds like the screenshot is corrupted. Delete it and you should be fine...
How would it be corrupted if I went to crop it about 20 seconds after i took it?
Yes, they are more than likely software bugs. iOS cannot get viruses (unless jailbroken). Jailbreaking is a hack, so if you don't remember doing it then chances are it is not jailbroken.
It could have become corrupted in the process of it saving. It could have become corrupted during opening. Images are finicky. They can become corrupted just sitting there (trust me, I lost many pictures this way).
