Poor wifi reception on new iPad

I am in a hotel with my laptop and new ipad3. The laptop wifi reception is as strong as it gets, but the iPad only registers a weak signal. Anyone else having similar problems? Any suggestions?

I didn't have wifi reception problems with the new iPad, however, my download speeds were much slower on the new iPad vs 1st gen iPad, by about half. I fixed the problem by "reset network settings" in General and by turning off "ask to join networks" under WiFi. I now have the exact same speeds on both iPads. I had to do both to get the same speed. Don't know why, but this worked.

I feel for u guys. I have my imac 27 and when it was OSX snow leopard it had amazing wifi capability but now on Lion 10.7.3 the wifi is AWFUL!!

Not sure what it is but im assuming it's a software issue too cos my £500 second hand macbook has amazingly STRONG wifi.

I haven't got the ipad 3 yet but i am very keen on buying one. Hopefully it will be a software patch to fix it.

I have noticed this problem too. I was in my Kitchen and all of a sudden my ipad wifi drops and wont reconect for about a minuet or two. I checked my iphone and it had full wifi signal. After finding it wasnt reconecting i walked up to my routor which is upstairs and held the ipad next to it. Doing this made it reconect and the signal looks okay now. But im sure it will happen again. I would have thought it was a software problem that they will fix with an update.

I'm not impressed with the articles about overheating. I don't care what the temperature readings say. It's hot and it's not comfortable to hold it.

As for the wi-fi, I've tried resetting network settings, restarting the ipad, changing rooms - and all of those strategies work... for awhile. Then they don't. It's working fine as I write this response, but I know it'll stop working in a little while.

Apple is supposed to provide top of the line products. Most of the time they do. But this one isn't living up to Cupertino standards.

I'll give up the speed and the screen and the LTE and the good cameras, go back to the iPad 2 and actually put some money back in my pocket - UNLESS someone tells me that a software update is going to fix my problems before my 14 days to return it.

As for router settings - I don't think that should matter. I'm going to want wi-fi to work at Starbucks, hotels or wherever I go and I certainly won't have any ability to adjust the modes on their wi-fi networks.

Oh look. I just got kicked off of wi-fi again. ****.
