I *think* he is refering to an error message that pops up saying you cannot use Apple TV because you do not have a HDCP compliant cable.

There you are stuck with a black screen containing only this error message.

Research reveals that this has been a problem since 2010. The "solutions" are quite a dogs's dinner, from jiggling the cable, to buying converters, to resetting Apple TV, and stuff in between. Reminds me of the days of bsnging on the top of the TV to clear up bad reception.

BUT people are surprised to learn that this was not fixed in Apple TV 3. It happens to me, rather randomly.

Ans, as usual, apple is silent . Thus the frustration.
