The New iPad wifi connection drop with 802.11g
This is my 2nd day of using the New iPad.
The New iPad experiences serious wifi connection drop when connect to my personal hotspot by 802.11g. It happens when the iPad streams HD video from youtube, sync big file (~100MB), and download iBook (~900MB). The HD video stream connection issue usually happens after few minutes of streaming. From my experience it has more than 90% of chance of connection drop.
I tested the New iPad in wifi of Apple Store, where 802.11n is used. The wifi connection drop issue does not happen. It works well.
Here is my personal hotspot device and configuration:
ClearSpot 4G (Apollo)
Hardware V02
Software 01.20.99.999
Wifi Channel: 9
Anthenticaltion: WPA-WPA2 Mixed PSK
Encrytion: TPIK
Working mode: 802.11g only
RTS Threshold: 2346
Fragmentation Threshold: 2346
Beacon Period: 100
DTIM Interval: 1
Preamble length: Short Preamble
Transmition Power: High
The firmware of this device is up to date.
I am quite sure the personal hotspot works well since there is no connection issue on my iPhone 4 and my PC.
I am pretty disappointed since my first 'New iPad' got this kind of issue. I do not have other choice to upgrade to 802.11n at this moment since the personal hotspot is the only internet connection that I can have in home.
I hope Apple could address this backward compatabilty issue and release a fix in the upcoming iOS update.
I may have to return this 'New iPad' if there is no solution, since I really have no way to connect other than 802.11g.
Does anyone experience same issue or could provide a solution? Thanks
Gorjai
