iMac 2007 : "The iCloud IMAP server "p01-imap.mail.me.com" rejected the password for user "_____"

iCloud on Safari : "Cannot Load Mail " Help Apple improve by reporting this problem.

Now 48 hours without mail. I have payement pending and they are all PaperLess going thru my Mac mail ?

So I called Apple Tech support last night and a guy named Peter, actually could not help me unless I pay $49 for trouble shooting my mail. WOW I was shocked and disgusted that I have to pay for a problem this is not mine plus a problem that 100 (possibly 1000) of people are currently experiencing. I am extremely disappointed with apple in recent years and this is not fair for a lot of us. I am stuck without email on my computer, so I am asking the Apple community what would be the best (economical) way to solve my (our) problem.

Thank you in advance

Let me try to give you a contribution to find a solution.

First: according to my experience the frequent request for password if the password is correct and works at intervals may be an indication of several things probabloy related with the internet connection. I had the problem sometimes because the server was down or the internet connection had problems (low level in cellular net) or too slow.

Second: I have seen this problem yesterday with a friend of mine. He had the mail setting for incoming and sending mail setted to an IP like 192.168.178.40 instead of say mail.provider.xxx.

The mail seinding and receiving worked but he had to write in the password several time each hour.

We chenged the settings to mail.provider.it and it worked. Now the password is remembered.

Sorry: I do not have an explanation for this... just putting my suggestion here.

Yes, I think you're right. No point trying to reconfigure anything on devices etc as it's clearly an iCloud service issue. It's intermittent too. I can access mail via icloud.com now and sometimes my iphone hooks up.

Amazing that there is no message on the iCloud sttus page though, would save us all a lot of time scrambling to reset things when in fact waiting is the best (if not ideal!) option.

Thanks for info, unfortunately my password is already all these things so I don't think its the issue in my case.

(I did attempt to reset my password earlier today just on the off-chance it would help but got stuck in a loop there too with a confusing error message about my Apple Id already being used etc, anyhow not possible and stumped Applecare too! They have escalated the issue to Senior tech or something and will get back to me within 48 hours...)

Such lack of disclosure is typical for Apple. It would be helpful to have a system status report on the iCloud page, but Apple is not a company that likes to publicly admit when its services are having problems.

After almost 5 days without email on my iMac computer and iPhone 4S, the problem seems to be gone by itself.

Corry a MobileMe Senior Advisor did replied to me that he will be taking on this case. That night my problem

was gone without any help from Apple ? coincidence or just luck ?

Unfortunately I cannot explain how it was solved, so I can't really share anything helpful to the community but

I am sure Apple knows the problem and discretely fixing it.

I will monitor mail activity on both devices and counter check using iCloud running Safari web browser.

If anything looks suspicious or I have any kind of discrepancies I will get back to the community.

In the mean time I did ask Corry to acknowledge all of the other users with the same problem as me on the Apple Community.

Thank you
