How to Recover StickiesDatabase From Time Machine
I lost my old Stickies, maybe in upgrading to Lion. I know the database is in my Library, but I cannot find a way to get into my Library in Time Machine.

Thanks, Linc; I know to do that in the Finder. My problem is when I am in Time Machine, going back a few days to recover my Stickies database back then. I know that I have recover it from the Library back then, but I cannot find a way to access the Library (I used the opion key, right click, etc. to no avail).
I'm bet you have a solution and very much look forward to it.
If you enter TM with the Library folder open in the foreground, you'll see snapshots of it going back in time.
Bingo! BTW, you've got to do something about your hair style!
Hello Linc
I have the same problem as rrchampion. I used TM, and cleaned up my laptop, because it was running slow, as in erasing the whole thing. Installed lion and the things I needed, but did not use TM as I did not want to restore my laptop with all the **** I had since before. My plan was to only grab the things i needed, as my old stickies for example. I read many of the threads regarding stickies, and this thread seems closest to my problem. I can't simply find the file stickiesdatabase in my library when I enter TM. I've tried to search for it in TM, but it can't find it. I've also tried your suggestion with having the library folder open, before I enter TM, but it disappears.
When I am in TM I have these folders: "Macintosh HD" followed by Applications, Library, System, Users. I can't find the file in the first folder of Library, but there is also a folder called Library in System, but it's not there either. And I can't find the folder, Library in my personal folder in Users. I talked to apple support, but it seemed like they didn't even belive that you could restore the single file from stickies, and that I had to restore the whole computer, which I hope you can spare me from, since that was the plan from the beginning. Any suggestion?
Thank you so much in advance.
Regards,
Samuel
how did you do it?
I have the same problem and i cant find it! it looks like time machine doesnt backup stickiesdatabase file which is located in my computer's library folder. i can see it its there but when i go to the exact location in time machine its not there!
on my TM in the same library folder there are also some other folders missing! this proves that time machine doesnt back everything up..
i dont really understand though, if i did a complete restore im %100 i'd get my stickies notes back!
i looked all over the internet and forums i couldnt get any info. i tried to see if it was a hidden file or not, apparently its not.
any help anyone?
hey
I finally came to terms with the situation and just faced the fact that I had to do a 100% restore, and then copied my stickies, and then went back to my restored, new computer.
Got tired looking for solution and just got it done.
Good luck
I had the same problem. When going back in time the stickiesDatabase file disappeared from the library. So this is what I tried and it worked for me.
Go back to the date you want in time machine and choose mac HD on the left. Then in the "search" window in the upper right corner of the folder type in stickies or stickiesDatabase. It found it for me. I restored it to my desktop and then dragged it over to my current Library folder.
Good luck..
Hello everyone.
This topic was a nightmare, but I solved it already.
10.9 operating system doesn't saves the information in / Users / yourusername / Library / StickiesDatabase <- this no longer exists.
To solve the problem you need to:
1. Position yourself in the folder Library / Preferences
2. Enter the Time Machine
3. Restore (of last backup) the Folder "Preferences"
Done.

Thank you so much Rocky! This is exactly the answer I needed!
You're thinking...how do I access the Library folder:
1) Click the picture of the hard drive (Macintosh HD)
2) With finder open, hold Command + Shift + G (There's probably an icon for this of which I'm unaware)
3) In the "Go to folder" bar, type ~/Library (The squiggle button is at the top left of the keyboard)
Voila.
Now that you're in the library folder, scroll to the bottom and find the "Stickies database"...uhh...document, I guess.
Once you have this icon visible on your screen:
1) Access Time machine
2) Search back until before the sticky was deleted
3)Restore the "Sticky database" from this time
you'll have to scroll through all your sticky notes to find what you're looking for, but this process worked for me.

Thank you so much for this. This is clearly the solution!!!!
Hi GoodSumari...uhh...can'tspell,
I tried what your suggested but when I restored the Sticky database, it only opens in Text Edit (which is not very helpful) Do you have any advice for how to get the Sticky database to open in the Stickies application or how I can access my old stickies?
Thank you!
@ GoodSumari...uhh...can'tspell Thanks you saved my notes!
