How to install .ibooks file on the iPad ?

Hello,

I have created a large ibooks (1,3Gb) and want to distribute it for validation before publication on the AppStore.

If I use a simple webpage with a link to my ibooks file, it works without any problem with a small iBooks (safari download complete and popup asking to open it with iBooks)

but when I tried with my 1,3Gb it will take "hours" before safari complete the download and the "Open with iBook" never appears...

Same problem with iTunes... I did not succeed to install it on my iPad 😟

How can I distribute a LARGE iBooks for peer reviews ?

In the past I used a plist file in order to distribute iOs app via Safari, but i don't know how to do it with a Book...

Thanx for your anwser,

Simple downloads from a page link will not do this.

A script could be written to do as you wish, but unless you are able to write the code, you would need to find a web designer who can. They would usually charge by the hour or a set fee with add on's for "management" .

You did not say if you created the website or if you have hosting account that has server side scripting included and you may need the web designer to set up the hosting cPanel to deal with scripts.

A more simple and easily managed way... is to add a note above or below the link to advise the download process, ie " Thank you for downloading ( your book title) you may see a white screen, please be patient, your file is downloading, but may take a few minutes depending on your internect connect speeds".

Most iPads users are aware that it takes time to download.

Books download in Safari, then call iBooks, which needs to do it's own thing before a book is loaded and opened there, but the sequence in this example is not the same as the store affords. If that is a requirement, you may want to consider putting your (free?) books in the store so your users have that experience.

Alternatively, and since it's your server, why not just design a page with links that features a reminder that downloads take time.

As always, use iBA's About/Feedback menu to request features you'd like to see in the future.

And finally, you may want to start your own unique thread so that you can track and mark solved, etc. should someone help.
