how can i transfer songs from my iPhone 4s to new mac

I recently got a new MacBook (My first one 🙂 ) but the problem is my old PC crashed and I lost all of my songs that were on that computer. The only songs I have left are on my iPhone. Is there anyway I could simply transfer the songs on my iPhone to my new MacBook? of course, when I go to "sync" my phone to my new iTunes, which is my old account, it says that everything will be erased and what is in my new iTunes library (which is empty) will be transfered to my phone.

Please help!!!! I am still learning this MacBook so please forgive my stupidity! Go Team Apple!

Hi JayBeast,

I don't think there's any way of doing what you want in iTunes, unfortunately. (They were probably afraid of pirating.) So if you have a backup of your old machine, the easiest might be to get the files from that. If you don't, however, I know there's a lof of programs that can copy music and other files from an iPhone to a Mac. I haven't used any of them, but google a bit, and I'm sure you will find plenty.

You can see if you find anything in Apple's app store, but I doubt it, since this is a functionality Apple doesn't really want you do have. Macupdate.com is a good place to look for Mac software – they have a good review system.

iFunBox is a completely free program for Windows and Mac. I couldn't find a solution in any forums so I went to good old YouTube.

Here's a link to the program: http://www.i-funbox.com/

This is also the YouTube video I watched that led me to the program with instructions on how to use it. I was surprised by how easy it was after downloading heaps of different programs that ultimately would want me to pay to use it completely.

IT IS COMPLETELY FREE AND EASY TO USE! This is the solution that we're all looking for I think.

For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads etc) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

Comparison of iPod managers

To transfer music from iPhone to Mac, you can just re-download them on iTunes if you purchased from iTunes store. If the songs are from other source, you can try the above apps.
