Correlation between battery life/charge time and overheating?
After reading the numerous posts about overheating and poor battery life or long charge times, I got to wondering if there is a correlation. For instance, so far my new iPad is not showing any significant heat output when doing day-to-day tasks such as intense browsing, email, Google maps, FaceTime, etc. In addition, so far my iPad appears to be charging at a rate of 1% / 3.16-3.28 minutes, which assuming a relatively linear charge rate, should allow me to charge my iPad in ~5.5hrs, which is a FAR cry from the 10-12 hrs people are reporting. I have not run my battery down until shutoff.
I wonder if it would be a useful exercise to have people post whether they feel they have an overheating issue and have long charge times/poor battery life. I think it would be interesting to see if there is some correlation.
If we could keep the posts limited to answering:
Have experienced long charge times (e.g. >6 hrs): yes/no
Have experienced excessive heat during general usage: yes/no
Do you use a case that encloses the back of the iPad: yes/no
With regards to "excessive" heat, let's define that as the device being uncomfortable to handle (i.e. whether holding it in your lap or touching the screen.)
I'll start:
Have experienced long charge times (e.g. >6 hrs): no
Have experienced excessive heat during general usage: no
Do you use a case that encloses the back of the iPad: no
