I am having problems pairing my Bose soundlink with my macbook pro

Ok, I paired the Bose soundlink with my macbook pro, but then when I try to use as an external speakers simply does not work, I can see the device on my bluetooth list. Any ideas please?

Option click on the speaker icon on the menu bar. Does the device show up under 'Output devices'? Is it selected?

One day I couldn't get music to play off my Bose which was connected to my Mac via Bluetooth. The two devices were still connected but I could only get music to play off my mac. I had to go to Settings, Sounds, Output Folder and select Bose Mini Link from the "Select a device for sound output". You think it would automatically do this, but that wasn't the case.
