I picked this up from Best Buy today for like $30. It's plastic and it snaps to the back ..via grabbing onto the corners..it adds very little weight and it it super thin so you don't even know it is there..so far I am very happy.

Oops..sorry..I didn't fully read your post..you said you didn't care for the smart cover..this back case is designed for the smart cover. It has no other external "prop"... Sorry...I jumped to a conclusion...anyway..I still like it. May e it will help someone else out.

I agree that it is a steal but I recently put my new iPad into it and with the heat increase of the iPad 3, it heats up more so in the enclosed space.

Belkin also has a case with a mag strip on the back to hold the smart cover in place.

The best one is a company called OTTER.

Its very protective and its water proof and if you drop it, the ipad wont break.

Its very strong.

It might be a little more expensive then the ones at the mall but its worth it if you want to keep it for a long time.

I purchased this for the "New iPad" and it fit it perfectly. My husband is overseas where there is a lot of sand, this will protect it extremely well.

Very easy to put on. The clear plastic that protects the screen and the little hole in the back is very sturdy. I know there is a "heating issue" with the new iPad that has people worried. This will take care of the problem. I was using the iPad for several hours getting it all set up to ship overseas to my husband and it worked just fine with the case on.

**Make sure the screen is cleaned well.. it is a pain to get the case back off to get that little fuzz that worked its way in** A couple broken nails later, I managed. 🙂

There are many different types and styles of cases and for each type there are the good and the bad. Heres a breakdown of the types and the best for each category.

#4) Best Waterproof Case - Griffin GB35108 Survivor Exreme-duty Military Case - There aren't many if any cases which claim to be totally waterproof that are worth a darn. For my money the Griffin Survivor case offers the best protection from the wet though I wouldn't expect it to survive a drop to the bottom of the ocean.

#5) Best Sleeve Case - iLuv Foam-Padded Neoprene Case - Great design, zipper close, light weight and low price.
