FaceTime failed - why?

I am having the same problem on my MacBook Pro 13" with Snow Leopard. Everything was working fine until about a week ago. I am able to FaceTime from my iPod touch and iPad but not from the MacBook. Have the exact symptoms that turnsouth is having. Anyone have any ideas?

I also have this problem.

The facetime on my mac book pro with lion 10.7.3 will not successfully accept or start a facetime call.

I keep getting connecting... then "Facetime Failed".

This solved my problem...

I took some advice to add a new (unregistered with apple) email address to my facetime account.

I did this and was asked to login with my registered email and password.

I then got the dreaded

"The server encountered an error procssing registeration, please try again later " issue that so many others were getting.

I then folowed this thread which solved the problem.

basically I had to comment out some extra server rows I had in my host file. Then a restart was required.
