[Re-Titled by Host]Hi all,
I am also facing the same problem. Couldn't transfer my photos from my macbook pro to my external HD.
Any particular brand of EHD would you recommend such that it's compatible to both OS and Windows?
Thanks.
Hi everyone,
new to this and having issue with external hard drive. got WD my passport, trying to copy datas but mac would not let me do it. I was trying to solve using previous posts but already got hips of data in HD so afraid if I change format in utility>erase, I might loose all data. and can not repair using verify disk because it says "invalid request"
Any idea guys ?
You really should start your own post
Thank you DJ Zü. This to me is the simplest and most effective solution. Stress free.
There is also one more thing to this. If disk is to be shared with Windows newer than Windows 2000 then you may also reformat it do exFAT. The only disadvantage of that solution would be that such format is not read by most Linux distributions (assuming you are using some). This solution does not require any extra steps (Windows XP driver can be downloaded from MS site, OS X has full suport for exFAT right out of the box)
Hi,
I was able to copy it in the following manner.
1. Attached hard disk to my ASUS router.
2. Was able to copy it from my Mac to the attached hard disk wirelessly.
Simple two steps but it works 🙂
hi everyone best solution to copy your data on seagate portable. install the utility called NTFS_for_Mac_with_restart.dmg search in google install it and problem will disappear!!!
hey
I've Tried this application TUXERA NTFS and it solved everything without the need to format and erase my external drive.
thanks
I was having the same problem. This saved me a lot of time and grief. Thanks for posting this solution.

Hi,
If non of mentioned before worked for you,
Follow the link http://www.tuxera.com/products/tuxera-ntfs-for-mac/
download the software and follow the instructions. That solved my problem without issues.
Hope that would help you out.
I have been trying to back up files to a new Lacie thunderbolt 2TB external hard drive. I have A Mac running OSX Yosminite, with retina display screen. I have tried formating my new hard drive as ExFAT, MS DOS (fat), Mac OS Extended (case sensitive journaled), and MAC OS extended journaled. Each tine the new hard drive only accepts small files (under one GB). Actually, it only copies the first file if small - all after that get the message "there is not enough space". Yet this is a 2TB hard drive. Cable I have tried from old hard drive I am copying from are USB2, USB3. Nothing to do with PAL or NTSF - the footage is native. Please, what am I doing wrong?
Will this erase all my data?
Yes, the the reformat will erase all of your data. So backup of everything first is vital.
