192.168.0.1 doesn't access modem behind airport - please help

my internet access has been REALLY slow and I'm trying to test my qwest/centurylink/actiontec modem speed. However, the modem is behind my airport and I can't seem to access it using 192.168.0.1 (I don't recall how I set it up originally--was years ago).

I also tried to plug my imac in directly to the modem (actiontec m1000) no connection. please help.

From the info in your post, it sounds like you set up the modem in "bridge mode".

If that is the case, you will not be able to access the modem setup page(s) unless you reset the modem back to its original factory settings and then reconfigure it again.

I would not advise that you do this unless you are certain that you have a modem problem.

Your ISP can perform a line test to check out the connection, before you reset the modem and have to start all over again.

Edit to clarify....

you will not be able to access the modem setup page(s) unless you reset the modem back to its original factory settings and then reconfigure it again.

First reset the modem back to factory defaults. Now you can access the setup and make any changes that you need. Once you have made the adjustments/changes that you need, save the changes.
