iPad App Store Links Not Working, iPad App Store Links Not Working

I'm having the exact same issue. Using the new iPad(iPad 3).

I'm seeing this problem on the new iPad3. The workaround is to close the App Store app after every use. Not just the home button but kill the task.

I don't see this problem on my iPhone 4S using iOS 5.1 so it appears to be iPad specific.

I have the same problem! Even though I'm using a newly purchased iPad 2, I can't seem to get the app store to load the pages I want to. When I do a search for the app in the app store, it doesn't even show up any app icons, just literally a blank screen! But when I do a search using safari, the links lead me to the apps in the app store, but not everything pops out. It's like there are a missing few other links and images.

Me too. I thought it might be my device, but while my wife's iPad does not have this problem, when I switch accounts to my account on HER iPad, the problem comes back. So it's something about accounts, and not necessarily device by itself. Really frustrating.

I agree. I don't know if it seems to be an on and off problem. It seems to work fine on some other days and it goes back again. I'm beginning to suspect if the Internet connection is the suspect of my problem. Seriously, I just don't get it!

I don't think it has anything to do with the Internet connection. If the app store app is running and I click on an app store link on a web page, the app store becomes active but does not update. If the app store was in the update screen before, it remains there instead if showing the app in the clicked link. When I do have connectivity issues I get a different screen.

I do have a few apps from my wife's account in my library but I don't see how that should affect viewing an app link. If the app store app is running, it fails to display the linked app 100% of the time. (If it isn't running it works once in startup and the fails every time afterwards.)

My guess us the bug has to do with receiving a link while the app store app on the iPad is running. Can anyone confirm that this also happens on previous iPads? (I'm using appshopper.com as my source for app links)

I also have a brand new ipad 3 and have the exact same issue. Only killing the app in the switcher will make it work but then it only works for the first link. All subsequent links open up the app store but on the last page that was viewed. I also have an ipad 2 and iphone4 and those work fine. I've tried doing a hard reset and that doesn't do anything. I haven't synced it to the computer yet so I'm not sure if that is supposed to solve it. Will try later today. Ipad2 is on 5.0.1, iphone is on 5.1, ipad3 is on 5.1. If it still doesn't work after syncing I'm going to be visiting the store.

Well I synced my ipad3 for the first time and that fixed it! I skipped the registering part and had the iPad "set up as a new iPad". After that it did a quick sync and it seems to be working as expected now. :)

There is a new setting in Settings > General > Restrictions

Make sure Installing and/or Deleting Apps is set to On,

I struggled with this problem yesterday and it drove me crazy, thanks to someone in the forum it is all solved and my apps are happily synching.

Restrictions are set to allow everything. Alas it doesn't fix the issue.

Also try changing the name of your ipad in the Settings > About section (I think it is), when I changed the name on my iphone then it synched perfectly so it may help with the ipad as well.

Otherwise if you have restarted itunes and restarted your ipad and you are still having the same issue, maybe go back into Apple and get them to check it for you.

I installed Dolphin HD as my browser so had disabled Safari. Once Safari was enabled again, the App Store buttons/links began working again.

It appears that the app store app on my iPad is working properly again. None of my solutions helped. I'm guessing that Apple got around to fixing it. Either way I'm happy that I don't have to constantly kill the app store to make it work. ^_^

if i do sync ipad to new.............. will all my data be deleted??
