I'm switching to a different phone so I'm wondering how I save my iCloud contacts to a SIM Card ? I was going to save all my contacts to a micro SIM then go to my phone carrier and get them flashed to a regular SIM and get a new phone . Much appriciated, thanks.

You should be syncing them to your computer or to a cloud service. You will need to figure out how to get them from your computer to whatever kind of phone you get next. Check the manual for your new phone.
Contacts are not stored in iTunes. You should be syncing them to a compatible address book (Outlook or Windows Address Book on a PC) on your computer. Make sure they are there. Check the info tab in iTunes with the phone connected if you're not sure what you're syncing them to.
If you have not been syncing them, make sure you have at least one entry in the address book you intend to sync them with. If you do, you will be given the opportunity to merge the phone and computer contacts when you turn it on. If you do not, the contacts in the phone will be wiped.
Backup your old phone in itunes. Then when you get your new iphone and turn it on it will ask you if you want to restore from backup. Choose this option and sync it with itunes it should put all of your contacts on to the new phone.
The iPhone can not store any data at all on the SIM card.
So how do I get my contacts if I decide to switch to a different phone? You're telling me that I lose all my contacts?
I'm pretty sure all of my contacts are backed up into my iTunes . How do I proceed from there ?
