company name when adding new app for the first time

Hello,

I am a private developer. Luckily, when I add my first app apple ask me for a company name that I want to be display on the app store. I did add a “company” name, something that will be more professional than my private name. It also says that this name can’t be change. So, now, I finish registering my new app (without the binary) but I can’t see this company name anywhere? Is it possible they didn’t get it because I am a private developer? If so, why it wasn’t mentioned? Or I can only see it for the first time on the app store?

My understanding is that if you signed up as an individual your name will be on itunes and the company name that you entered in the beginning will be ignored. If you signed up as a company the name should be your companies legal name and that will be shown in itunes. Support was trying to tell you that if you want anything differnt then your name you have to become a company or sign up using a dba which is a name that is recongnized by the irs as related to you as an individual. This can be expensive because of the registration requirements with the irs and your state irs. For example in Illinios a dba can cost from $400 to $700 and has to be renewed every year. For me as an individual programmer I didn't want to go through this hassel so I just use my name which has an added benefit that my name will start to be recognized for contract work. I hope this helps.

I actually don't remember but i believe i didn’t since i am not a company. i just wanted that my apps will be under a logo name and not my name. What I mean is, if you can look at p.16 in the developer guide you send. In this section I add my “company” name like they ask for- the name I want all my apps to be under. But I don’t see it anywhere…

K T, thank you for your time

So, I looked at p.25-26. This is exactly the problem; I also got a confuted answer from apple. People (and apple costumer support) are confusing between my Legal Entity

Name,, which is “the seller” and this is me (no company and no register company) and between the name that is writeen on top, on the app page the following: AppStore>books>”company name”>app name. like written on the p.16 guide :

Company Name is the company name that will be displayed on the App Store. For example, “Apple” seen above in iTunes Connect, refers directly to the name that will appear in the upper left hand corner of your product page in the App Store. Your company name is a key piece of organizational metadata for your apps on the App Store because when customers click on this name, they will be led to a page that contains all currently live apps sent through your developer account.

I don’t know what to do specially now that I got an answer from apple that I think they also failed to understand me and where taking about converting my account from private to company

Pleas help!!!!
