Delayed response - new Macbook Pro

I've noticed with my Macbook Pro that when I hit the volume button on my keyboard, there is a delayed response. I'd say at least a second to 2 seconds in order for it to respond with increasing the volume.

I have a brand new Macbook Pro that I bought in December, and maximized the RAM. I'm curious why there is any delay with the amount of firepower in this thing, and am wondering if my computer is slow in some other areas.

Just curious if anybody had suggestions or similar experiences. I don't recall my last macbook pro to have such a delay when pressing the volume button down. I feel kind of silly going to the genius bar to complain about this issue, but wondering if this is signalling some other issues I may have with my machine.

Yes my Mac responds slower to all actions then my Win XP and 7 computers, notebooks or desktops.

I believe it is just a Apple/Mac thing that it just doesn't respond as fast.

Closing programs with Command+q takes a split second to 1+ seconds on some programs.

Contrary to what Shootist007 says above, my MBP responds instantly to volume key (F11 & F12) presses. Likewise for screen brightness (F1 & F2) and keyboard backlight (F5 & F6). So I don't think the behaviour you're seeing is normal.

This solved the problem. Thanks Pennbank. I haven't tried it after awakening it from sleep, so when I get home tonight I'll try it out, but it seemed to be functioning normally last night.

Oops, maybe it was just a termporary problem. When I woke it from sleep it had the same problem. Hmmm, back to the drawing board.

Good. I'll try this now. Rebooting was the only thing that fixed it for me. Only started happening this past week. The On Screen Display (OSD) is slow and laggy for me.

This has proven to be very effective for me.

just open the terminal and enter the command.

Restarting seemed to be an overkill for this.
