Ipad 3 wifi problems

One thing to try is to unplug your WiFi router for a few seconds. Then reset the iPad 3's network. Go to Settings-General-Reset-Reset network Settings. You will need to reconnect the iPad to WiFi.

Additional things to try.

Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Apparently nothing has been done to rectify the wifi connection issue, my wife and I purchased two 3rd generation iPads and are frequently being disconnected from our wifi at home and my wife at work is the same. We have Verizon router at home which was recently replaced, regardless, this is isolated to the iPad because we have new 27 inch iMacs, iPhones All running the latest os and even windows 7 running i7 all maintain connection. Love the device but this doesn't seem like a problem that's going away, all these other comments on seemingly the same issue yet a previous model makes me rethink this purchase. I will look further in to addressing the issue but not happy about everything I've been reading.. Anyone know of a sure fix that won't disturb all the other computers and devices that connect without fail? Please post it.

Not sure if this will help but I had the same issues as you and went through all of the recommended ways of resolving this (reset router, reset network on ipad 3, restore the operating system, even had the ipad replaced) but to no avail. This was really frustrating because the ipad 2 and itouch work really well but the wifi on ipad 3 would continually drop out. The only thing that worked for me was to set up a guest network on my router with wep encryption and to limit the use of this network to the ipad 3. This seems to work like a charm and of course this does not affect any of the wifi units that are using the original network.

Thanks! That sounds pretty good and makes perfect sense. Oddly, after experiencing the hassles of being dropped from my wifi connection, which is also wep encrypted however as you mentioned it is shared throughout the apt. Fortunately, thus far, after shutting down and rebooting the modem which so happens to be newly replaced and rebooting the iPad and reselecting the network, re-entering the password we have not dropped the connection again but if it ever happens again that certainly sounds the most convenient and common sense approach for a fix. Good advice; great device!

I did not have issues during first week but now I am experienicing wifi conectivity problems with my ipad3. I see the wifi symbol that it is connected but when I launch safari, it will say that I m not connected....but when I turn the power off, wait few minutes and then turn the power back, it connects to the network fine but I have to wait few minutes after turning the powere back. Problems exists whether I m home or at work. (if I turn the power off and then turn it back on right away, it does not work, you have to wait at least a minute or so).

Hope apple fixes this issue soon!

I have solved the wifi issue where disconnects occur. First it appears only to happen when connecting to wireless-n connections. Wireless-g doesn't seem to have any problems. Note this is only for the repeated disconnects and has nothing to do with the low signal issue some have mentioned.

Earlier I blogged all ways to reproduce (five different ways) to the solution until Apple updates the software, sharing here as I noticed similar symptoms in the replies.

Having terrible problems with wifi connection. The signal drops every few minutes. Really disconcerting !

Here the same. Bought the Ipad 3 in Singapore as it was not on the market in Germany. Was already sceptic about iPad athough a continuos lover of the Iphone.

Wifi connection is really BAD! Tried to logon (a freeking 32 digit code) on the wifi with friends and it failed constantly. After reboot of the Ipad it worked. On all my iphones 3 peases 4S and 1 iPhone 4 it worked immediately! ???? What a show-off of the new Ipad 3rd generation. It was a laugh!

All the suggested workarounds stinks as it should adopt itself to all common wifi networks. If, as promissed, the new wifi on the 3rd generation iPad can work faster and more relayable with specific settings on my own internal wifi network than thats fine but I might expect from Apple that the default setup for wifi is as good or as bad as previous iPad's and other Apple products.

Apple, this is not you!! Please come with a fix for the wifi on iPad 3 asp.

My IPad 3 16 GB wouldn't connect to the thes Cisco e4200 or e4200 v2 on either band, but it would connect to a wrt320n wireless router and a WGR614v9 G router. My IPad 3 32 GB works no problem on all the routers. Took the 16GB to the Genius Bar and the dude did Settings-General-Reset-Reset network Settings and I had to redo all my wireless networks, but it's working right now. Still need to test a against a couple of other routers, but this fixed my problem of not being able to use some wifi routers.

Can we get more detail on this? I don't want to change my router (linksys e2500), which works fine with a bunch of MacBooks, iPhones, and a PC, to accomodate one device :-(
