my keyboard appears half way up my screen

You must have undocked it. Look at the bottom-right hand corner of your iPad keyboard. You'll see the keyboard toggle. Hold it and you'll see the options to Split and Dock. Click "Dock". It'll automatically go to the bottom.

I restarted my IPhone and the text bar went back to the bottom.

Thanks millish1, leaving WhatsApp and coming back to it moved the bar back to the bottom for me too.

Switch off and switch-on, it worked for me.

There is a key on the iPad keyboard to move where it is positioned.

It is the very bottom right key, image of a keyboard with an arrow. You can press and hold it and it will give you the option to dock it back where you're used to it.

WhatsApp seems to do what it wants when it wants. I’ve come out of WhatsApp and now gone back in and the bar has returned to the bottom of page. Thanks for your suggestion though

It happens to me too in WhatsApp. My type bar is separated from my keyboard and appears halfway down my screen!

I can scroll my conversation, but the type bar remains at its place.

It’s really annoying, anyone a solution?
