Safari will not play Youtube videos!!!

I have an Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06 GHz Imac and I am running Snow Leoprad 10.6.8. The problem I am having is that since I recently uipdated Safari, I cannot run Youtube videos. Every time I try watching one, the page crashes. I know I am not alone here and I am surprised Apple has not approached this situation yet. I have tried running youtube videos on Firefox and have had no problems doing so, thus I figure it must be Safari. I've tried running safari in 32 bit mode and that has not helped. I have emptied the cache and reset Safari as well but still no go. Any suggestions would be wonderful.

Thanks for that. My problem was not so much with youtube videos, but with videos in html5 on Facebook. Like you, I'd like to avoid Flash as much as possible, so I followed your advice and found an update available for Click to Flash. Updated it, and now html5 videos are working perfectly. So - round of applause to you! 🙂 🙂 🙂

This is driving me absolutely INSANE.

I have 2.4ghz intel core duo Macbook running Mountain Lion and Safari 6.0.2.

Going to Youtube homepage in Safari crashes the browser, requiring a forced close.

I've checked the 'html5' trial link, and I'm not part of the trial, so I can't opt out.

I've uninstalled flash as golarash says above, and reinstalled 11.6.602.167....

Youtube STILL does not work. This is unbelievably frustrating.

What am I meant to do next?

All help hugely appreciated.

Wow, I was afraid to try this in case it was malicious or something but it worked instantly and now my vids play in HD instanly. All of them do. People are saying youtube is being "throttled" I can't believe this is what we are up against and I feel youtube and apple should do something about this publically as it makes us wonder if it is them when it isn't.

My ISP is not time warner. I use verizon which now works super fast.

What worked for me:

I have not been able to play YouTube videos on Facebook since I set up my new Mac Mini. I went through a number of the suggestions here before I finally found out what my particular issue was: Google Disconnect.

Anyone using the extension Google Disconnect might try disabling it, refreshing your Facebook page, and trying a YouTube video again. It worked for me. It also worked for me regardless of my HTML5 status with YouTube.

Hope that helps someone.
