How do I repair java?
Java appears to be broken on my machine as a particular web app works on other machines but not on mine. How do I delete and re-install java?

Running Restore Defaults in Java Preferences was ineffective.
login items (from yiour Accounts system preferences)?
I think it would just "keep the botched settings". That's essentially what I said in my first post.
or if its not to much trouble just delete it then download it again
No ideas. No one seems to know how to fix this.
Java only fails on one site that I use, but I can access it using another account on my machine.
Toby,
remove macintoshHD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin file. Restart your computer and java preferences will load normally and you will be able to activate applet.
:-)
