iMac Lion will not play burned dvd-r's that already have files on them, any idea how to fix this?

I just bought this iMac in January and I've already had issues with Lion. First it was facetime.... now, I inserted a dvd-r that I already burned which has video files on them. The good thing, at least Lion recognizes that a cd/dvd is in the drive, the bad thing is that the dvd is already burned yet it keeps saying that I inserted a blank disc... which I did not.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3)

I am in the same boat...burned a miniDV to DVD with a converter that I have used to burn over 100 tapes to DVD...made a copy with a converter on my mac all was fine...then did a software update, played the DVD on our DVD player for my daughter, came back to make more copies and it thinks the DVD-R is blank. I put it in my old PowerBook and it sees it fine! Any fixes??? please oh please...my PowerBook is too slow to always use for copies!

I have been using Macs since 1992, upgrading to new operating systems as they came out. Now have Lion 10.7.3

I have recorded video/movie clips mostly from online sources. I have never had problems playing these back until now. Some will play, others when I click the play button come up with the message "supported disc not available". I have read the comments on this thread, but am not very cluey about rebooting and other technical stuff. Do I have to rescue one of my old Mac computers with earlier OSX operating systems to play these again? How can I transfer the content to a form that Lion will recognize. Sorry if this is a repetition of other queries. Help!!!!

Hi

Having read this topic, it seems you may be able to confirm whether my DVD problem is also with Lion, or at least that I am not alone with it!

I have just exported a 10-minute video from Final Cut Pro X onto a DVD+R disc, using FCPX's share menu. While the DVD plays fine on my DVD player, it hangs and staggers when I try and play it back on the iMac, the same one I created the DVD on. Other, commercial, DVDs play just fine.

I'm running OS 10.7.4 on an iMac with 2.8 GHz i7 processor, which I thought would be fast enough! Is Lion likely to be the problem?

Thank you.
