2003 Apple Cinema Display with Dell Computer

Hi,
Does anyone know if it's possible to connect a Dell computer to an Apple Cinema display? I'm guess the better question is what kind of converter do I need... the Dell has a relatively small connection with screws at the end, whereas the Apple display has a larger/wider connection with clasps (not screws).
Thanks!

Hi Emax,

If it is a trapezoidal shaped connection with round pin holes, then it sounds like it is a VGA plug.

Running an ADC monitor off a VGA plug entails the use of a rather expensive VGA to DVA adaptor. Dr. Bott and Gefen both make them and they are about $300.

As to whether these adaptors will work off a PC (as opposed to a Mac), I can't tell you. Even with a Mac, there is some loss of performance and a restriction of the resolutions available because the VGA (analogue) signal must be converted to a DVI (digital) signal before ADC can function.

Cheers!

Karl
