Other problems with recent security update:

I installed the Rosetta-killing security update. Unlike some other users it completely killed Rosetta so that none of my "legacy" programs would even launch (AppleWorks, MS Office & Filemaker 8). I installed the new improved version 1.1 of the security update and it had no effect. Rosetta programs still didn't launch. I then used the discs that came with my Macbook (no, I don't have a Time Machine backup) to completely re-install the system, thus bringing me back to 10.6.3. Unfortunately, my Rosetta programs still didn't launch, so whatever the offending piece of software, it survived a system re-install. I tried installing the combo update to get up to 10.6.8 and then re-installing the 1.1 security update...still no effect. The programs I need most to run my business won't launch. Can anybody help me figure out what I can do to bring Rosetta functionality back, short of deleting everything and starting fresh?

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.8), 8 GB RAM

1) Will they launch after a Safe Boot?

2) As a test, create a new admin user account. Do those apps launch from there?
