What's wrong with YouTube on Safari!!!

I have the same problem!

Is this a conspiracy or not?

Every embbeded YouTube video plays sound, but no image.

On the Youtube site itself it's the same thing.

Updated Flash player to v. 11.2.202.233

Chrome and Firefox are doing fine and show all.

Thank goodness I'm not alone in this! I've had to switch over to Firefox so I'd stop pulling my own hair out 😠

This is all because YouTube automatically put us into an HTML5 trial.

Found it out after looking on another site.

Yeah, I already logged out of that trial and it made no difference so I'm still using Firefox.

I'm getting it in Firefox, too. Did you do anything special to get Youtube working in FireFox?

Nope. Using Firefox "out of the box" works great. It's starting to grow on me; I may give up Safari entirely.

It's not the HTML5 trial thing. I don't think it ever was. I thnk there are two distinct problems here. I was never in the HTML5 trial to begin with, and I still had problems. The only fix I have come across so far is to use the following Safari Extension:

Using that... YouTube is back to normal.

After I unchecked 32 bit mode on Safari, You Tube works properly. I also downloaded "Vertical Forest".

I never had 32 bit checked...

I was never in the HTML5 Trial...

I reinstalled Safari...

I updated flash…

I disabled all extensions…

I tried all suggestions mentioned in this thread and others…

I tried Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Camino, and a coconut shell with a string attached to it, and all played youtube videos just fine.

The only fix was to install the extension I mentioned above. I am running an up-to-date brand new iMac.

Thanks to @Ursus Major! This solved my problem immediately. Now, why Flash is outperforming HTML5 in Safari is beyond me.

It isn't ;-/ Videos stopped working a couple of weeks ago in the latest v. of Firefox.

Tried it last week, but I'm not in the trial.

I tried to install the exstension, but it fails installing... What can I do? I am going to flip, I just got my new Mac, this is not going to happen-.-
