what is "gigabit ethernet"?

What is it? You you saying that the ethernet port on the back of my mini is not as fast as the one that is on the new minis?

Indeed, apologies for the sloppy math and thanks for the correction.

One hopes it admirably highlights why high ethernet speeds in systems doesn't translate into faster downloads and web page access, but give a clue as to the power of faster ethernet speeds to move data around a network for those who wish to do exactly that.

Exactly. Gigabit Ethernet is 10 times faster than Fast Ethernet (1 Gbps instead of 100 Mbps) ...

But it doesn't though. That's the magic of it all. Even though the math is right, it still takes 40 seconds, maybe a minute MAX. Go figure, smart guy.
