Is there a way to create a standard form where the document starts with text that cannot be edited. Then, the user, could use a tab to fill in information.
ie. A template of a fax form where the tab is used to fill in changable date, (phone #).
I found the task quite easy in Word, but, then I had to use WORD.. I can't stand word. Documents saved, will spontaneously reformat, so that, when you reopen them they look different. I want this feature in Pages and am baffled why Apple hasn't added the ability in simple Apple user-friendly drag and drop, manner. Pages is not a full function word processor, and document layout, piece of software until it has this capability.
If you want a form design tool, use MS Word, or the free LibreOffice, in concert with Adobe Acrobat Pro. This is the de jure and defacto standard for documents with forms. There are many that “can't stand Word,” but that is an emotional .vs. functional issue.
It is a waste of negative emotion complaining that form design, or other professional grade, corporate word processing features are not in Pages — an application specifically designed, and priced (even free) for the consumer market.
AFAIK, Pages does not support this. To create forms, you can try Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office, OpenOffice or NeoOffice. (Be warned, it is not simple in any of them).

I've uploaded my templates to pdfreader and than copy and paste.
It's simple enough, if not practical.
No, Pages doesn't have that feature. You could look in the field More Like this and see if someone has found a work around. You can also do a search up to right.
You can create the document in pages, place underlines where you want to fill in. Convert the file to pdf and then fill in the form in preview. It's not perfect but it works.
