I know for some people this is not a real, respectively acceptable solution but i recommend using an free email provider which has been running flawlessly (with 0 days offline since 2005): gmail

Nowadays it is unacceptable for me that an email service is down for more than 1 hour. Unless it is me that is fixing the IMAP server and/or doing updates and maintenance.

I was right not to choose @me.com as my primary email provider.

Anyways i can tell you that here (Switzerland) iCloud email services have been up and running since 2 days without any hiccups, at least for me.

p02-imap.mail.me.com (one of the many email servers) is currently up and running @ 5:08pm (GMT+1).

This is no help for many of you but i expected that iCloud email services would not run flawlessly.

You either wait till they solve the problem or you start using another more reliable email provider.

I'd love to help out, but i'm not an Apple employee respectively a system administrator for this company.

Here is what you want to do to fix your issue:

(I had the same thing happen to me)

Back up your email.

Go to mail “preferences” and click on the accounts

Delete your iCloud account (the “-“ at the bottom)

Create a new Mail account )the “+” or “file” > “Add Account” and enter in your iCloud information

Depending on the throughput of your Internet connection, and the amount of emails you have loaded on the server, this process will take awhile to synchronize your account.

Same here, April 1, is it April Fools?? Everything was working so well. Now, my mail won't work on my imac, asks for a password and won't accept any that I use. I clicked on icloud and the mail was there, very slowly working,, and now I can't even get the icloud to load. My ipad and iphone are getting the mail.

I also have a laptop not on icloud and it won't accept or send email either. What is going on?

Sadly this is just like "MobileMe" several

Years ago. I have been in IT for 30

Years designing systems and networks for

Banking. For those Chase customers can you

Even remember when your ATM's were

Systemically Down? NYSE Trading infrastructure?

It is possible to build systems and networks

That do not fail. You need to hire good

Talent. I didn't do it alone. I was lead, but

It is about building a team with people that

Are as good as or better than yourself. People

Don't do that these days as they fear for their

Job. I built teams with people brighter

Than myself or at least as skilled.

One company that tries to hire that way

Is Google. I have not worked for them, but

Know architects that do.

I suspected this problem. I won't use gmail

As I don't trust google's policies. The

Simple answer is to go to "the planet.com",

Lease an inexpensive server with redundant

Bandwidth and cluster add on, and buy a

Domain for $9/ year, and you will have

Reliable imap email services. I also run

A WEBDAV server as well. THaT is my primary

Email. Besides a migration failure on

A major fiber regroom for 4 hours in

The last 12+ years, it has never been

Down.

it is all menu driven front end so you don't

Need to know Linux. I do, and it is

Faster if you do, but not required.

I don't work for "the planet", I am just a

Happy customer. You do it once and

Don't have to worry or think about it again..

it just works and isn't google and most

Important it isn't APPLE. I am beginning to

Lose faith in Apple. Weird for a family with

A half dozen MBPs, IPads, IPhones.

Tired of the under spec'ed and over priced

Hardware for Mac OS X. I had better see

A 8 core MBP with 16-32GB ram, so trivial

And common in PC land... Otherwise

This family is going to start eliminating

Apple computers. I know I am not alone.

It was a quick climb to largest Market value

And we have seen "king of the Mountain"

Fall quickly before in history. I think it

Is just a matter of time now.

OK, I changed my password and my iphone seems to be working now, but iPad does not work and neither does Mail on my MBA. Very fustrated and concerned.

There is an issue with iCloud email. Emails that are sitting there but you can see them and the date is way off and odd like 12/31/69. I dont know what to do next, but I'm concerned with the future reliability of iCloud. Sad considering that I was about ready to put my iCloud as my primary. But with this outage has sealed it up that I wont make it my prime email account.
