Where do iOS games store their save data?

Where do games for ios (either iphone or ipad, doesn't matter) store their save data? Is it stored on the copy of the app within iTunes on your computer, or are they saved within the device's backup file? The reason I'm asking is because I've got about 16GB of apps stored on my Mac and I want to delete them but don't want the save files to be lost.

Thanks!

They're normally stored within the app itself and, if the developer followed Apple's guidelines, will be backed up when you sync the iOS device to iTunes or, I believe, to iCloud. Confirm with the developer of the app, though, to make certain.

No, that's not what I'm saying. Deleting the applications from your computer is indeed not in your best interest, but that has nothing to do with backing up of data from the apps installed on your iOS device. Those will be backed up in any case. What I'm saying is to confirm with the app developers that the game data is backed up when you sync your iOS device to your computer or iCloud.

Regards.
