Q: will my metadata change in iTunes match

I have altered the metadata in most of my songs by either changing the genre or album art.  Will itunes change this data back to the original if I sign up for the Match service?

In my experience, yes it can change, and there's no way to control it or even see that it's happenng until after the fact. Please check out my post on this issue: iTunes Match Changing My Album Tags/Metadata Without Asking

Today I watched in horror as iTunes Match undid all the metadata changes I had made to 47 tracks, putting them back to Song 1 / Various Artists; Song 2 / Various Artists etc.  I had just slaved away by putting all the correct song/artist information in by identifying the tracks via Shazam/SoundCloud.

As each track played, all that hard work was un-done.  Not happy.

I quickly did a screenshot of iTunes so I could put them all back in again manually!

I have wanted to try iTunes match, but I have thousands of tracks with the Genre edited by myself to something meaningful.  This sure makes it look like it isn't possible.

I can't even find any new posts on this...
